He had some i never seen but he isnt known for it

Nah, almost every comedian you see on tv/movies started in stand up, they're just not known for it, like Ray Romano, Seinfeld, Kevin James, etc. Like Chris Rock said "stand up's the only profession that when you blow up and get famous from it, people dont want you to do it anymore". Most dont go back to stand up after they get in hollywood, like Eddie for example.

Is this solely based on his stand up? or do you think his tv shows and movies compete with the likes of Eddie, Martin, Chappelle, and others?

I would say Chappelle surpassed Rock as far as social commentary as well.

People remember Chis Rock's stand up more than Chapelle's stand up.

The Chris Rock show was the Chappelle Show before the Chappelle Show, and it lasted 5 seasons.

My personal favorite comedian though I can see why someone would say Pryor, Murphy, or Carlin is better. Kill The Messenger is the weakest out of his standup specials. I hope he really does release another or go on tour gain. His movies are underrated as fuck too. Head of State, I Think I Love My Wife, and his role in Dogma are underrated as fuck
