the Grammy's is 100% sales driven. Nas just ain't doing the numbers that other nominees are gettin' although his fanbase is hardcore Hip Hop fans. but that's not saying much when you consider how many niggaz in the hood try to get shit free without paying for it. So if Nas never wins it's because of his broke ass support base.

I don't think this award should mean anything to Hip Hoppers. I know it's doesn't mean jack to me. I mean we all know that Nas is one of if not the most skilled MC's in the History of Hip Hop. However, I can see how the award might mean something to Nas. I don't think the award validates his music. But the award means something to buyers of commercial products. Having a grammy or two gives Nas more leverage as an artist when he is at the bargaining table.

I disagree with that 100%. It's not the fans fault. You cannot make people like a certain type of art. Even when Hip Hop was less watered down, who many in the Hip Hop community believed to be the best weren't walking away with major awards.

If Nas had as many Grammys as Jay or Ye he would be hated for that reason just as they are. Aside from Nas being viewed as the goat (1a on my list) part of Nas' following comes from the fact that he is viewed as an underdog. Niggas feel like Nas belongs to them because there isn't any white validation associated with him so he is held to a higher regard. If or when Nas does when a Grammy it will be celebrated but I can guarantee a lot of hate will come because niggas will think that he abandoned them.

We truly don't know what goes into getting a Grammy because there has been cases for both sides. I do feel Nas was snubbed especially this year.
