Man this was refreshing. Netflix out here winning. Nas is out here preserving the Artform. He's always paid homage in his music, not just with one off songs, but throughout his albums he's done shit to show love for the culture that paved the way for him.

Disco was cool but i prefered when they kept it closer to its soul roots. It was wack when it got commercialized. As this movie showed, breakbeats and early rap was created from disco tracks and funk. It there was a campaign to destroy disco but it survived and naturally evolved into house. One of my favorite house tracks was from the rap group, the Jungle Brothers.

I love how each episode begins with nas rapping a recap, or rapping about what's about to happen. Fucking love this show. This is hip hop as fuck. The Kung fu references are dope yet hilarious. Graffiti is dope as hell and they really hot the 70s new York down perfectly.
