These days with the smart phones, social media & youtube it honestly don't even feel like there's "regions" like that anymore. Everything feels more connected IMO & yappin about which part of the country hot feels like a waste of time now. Everyone barrows shit for better or worse. Only a select few stand out with originality.

You do know atlanta put out new artist like erry month

And.... What? So do everyone else in America with an iphone these days. Ya thread premise is played young man.

who from the south is even being talked about like that. Drake and Kendrick are at the top of the rap game.

future keeps releasing fast food shit that comes and goes. Joey bad azz just charted higher than him. lil wayne getting drinks tossed at him.

rick ross just came out and his shit went out the door fast. what is the south doing thats topping NY? Migos? oh ok more snap ur finger ring tone shit.

Nupac being talked about and has a buzz. Cassanova was buzzing with Dont run.

This dude is exhibit A of Joey Badass' point in the other thread about this generations ADHD attention span. A$AP Rocky and Ferg are old news and done now because they don't have a song out this month? 2015 music is irrelevant in early 2017?

Keep feasting on that fast food b. You just gonna be hungry again immediately.

to be honest it just feel like south niggas on here can sense a shift and they're grasping for anything they can find so they can feel better about the south.

The Tri State Area (NYC/Jersey/CT) is still the mecca of hip hop. When major tours have 10 stops you can guaruntee one of them is in the nyc area. Despite how shitty summer jams lineup is they get 4 times to crowd that the ATL birthday bash gets in the A.

Lil wayne did a tour with drake a few years ago and didn't do a single show in Louisiana. But there were 2 Jersey shows 1 CT show and and 3 shows in new york state including one in queens (forest hills).

Every Major online hip hop publication has offices and contacts in New York. The breakfast club is in New York. Who the fuck outside Atlanta is watching the local hip hop radio on youtube?

Rappers on the come up do Irving Plaza or Terminal 5 regardless of what region they are from.

NYC is still the mecca of hip hop. Movements are going on outside the City now that hip hop his grown but NYC is still the hip hop capitol of the world.

Part of the problem is tristate commercial radio is driven by suburban whites with no connection to inner city culture and classic NY Hip Hop sound. NY artists have to code switch from what's their peers want to hear and what will be perceived as a radio/club friendly hit.
