These days with the smart phones, social media & youtube it honestly don't even feel like there's "regions" like that anymore. Everything feels more connected IMO & yappin about which part of the country hot feels like a waste of time now. Everyone barrows shit for better or worse. Only a select few stand out with originality.

The Tri State Area (NYC/Jersey/CT) is still the mecca of hip hop. When major tours have 10 stops you can guaruntee one of them is in the nyc area. Despite how shitty summer jams lineup is they get 4 times to crowd that the ATL birthday bash gets in the A.

Lil wayne did a tour with drake a few years ago and didn't do a single show in Louisiana. But there were 2 Jersey shows 1 CT show and and 3 shows in new york state including one in queens (forest hills).

Every Major online hip hop publication has offices and contacts in New York. The breakfast club is in New York. Who the fuck outside Atlanta is watching the local hip hop radio on youtube?

Rappers on the come up do Irving Plaza or Terminal 5 regardless of what region they are from.

NYC is still the mecca of hip hop. Movements are going on outside the City now that hip hop his grown but NYC is still the hip hop capitol of the world.
