The East was shell shocked at the time Deathrow was peaking though. They were sneak dissing on underground mix tapes and played the victim role when Pac was mashin.

Mobb Deep responded and actually did their thing, but BIG waited til after he died to shit on him....sucker shit.

Musically, the East had a better long term run post-Pac and BIG, but NY hasn't been relevant nationally in 5-6 years while the West has an up and coming group poised to run the game for at least another 2 years (TDE). I didn't even mention the late 90's west coast run.

Am I the only one who appreciates the difference in style, sound, and subject matter of every region and every hood. Comin up I used get excited to see an emcee reppin a place and style I was not exposed to yet. Seriously, there's no possible way that you could argue that the West won. The West had one record label and when that label fell apart, the whole West fell off and took about 10 years before they had a platinum selling artist again (Game).
