being from the east coast, we were laughing at east coast rappers like big, jayz, and mobb deep, no one respected them....theres still a joke with my ppl when someone says biggie the next guy looks at him and says "who's that?", it wasn't until after pac died that ppl felt like they could give those guys a chance

tupac vs the east coast and tupac crushed the east, they were all scared of pac destroying their career like he did the others....just saying

not to mention that the east has never had a record label as strong as death row records

I was trying to dodge this thread so hard, because I didn't feel like IC set trippin' for Beast Coast today, but seriously? Have you niggas not been reading the threads? NY is going through an inner conflict right now involving fuck head slow ass radio DJs. We have faggot ass Ebro Program Director of Hot97, on a daily front mission, swerving any potential bubbling talent if it doesn't fit his bitch ass "criteria" (See the Buckshot interview for details), then turning around and claiming responsibility for breaking artists like Joey Bada$$ and ASAP Rocky.

This nigga does not support homegrown talent, until it has a half a million views on Youtube, or sounds like some clapper music from the south (no shade). He breaks nothing, as our niggas fend for themselves. Then this practice snowballs, and sets a precedent for other East Coast stations. As a result, the culture suffers, and up and coming niggas are made to feel like they need to sound like some shit they aren't.

Meanwhile Southern, Midwest, and West Coast DJs are keeping their ears to the streets, and breaking artists left and right. Raw, unhampered talent, even if it doesn't necessarily fit the mold of your typical commercial nigga. (See Chief Keef)

It's kind of sad that this thread is put up the way it is. It's almost inviting hate the way the question is asked. Nobody won the east vs west / Biggie vs Pac . Pac would been doing songs with a lot of the artists listed as "east coast" winners and the same could be said about Biggie. Instead, we missed out on years of classic music, two of the greatest artists, and I'm sure both would have regulated most of these weak rappers out now.
