yo KOP give us the break down of what you went through to get back in shape
and what tryouts were like
Actually it was pretty hard cuz' i was about 210 - 215 , i looked like i played football so i wasnt fat or nothing, but being a Shortstop i couldnt carry that weight and still get to certain balls hit away left or right , and my hip rotation as a hitter was gonna be stiff, i ended up getting sick for a while and that dropped me down to 200 , once i recovered i started jogging cuz i knew it was gonna take a long time, i did whatever i could for the first two weeks i didnt push it hard, then i changed how i eat which sucks cuz i like to eat what i want whenever i want but i started eating a bunch of healthy food and stopped drinking sodas, and then i moved on to pushing myself hard doing a bunch of sprints, jump rope, explosion drills, quick feet drills, like a bunch of stuff, it took me a real long time , so eventually i ended up at 180 , which is what i wanna be at for my position at shortstop, i say what really sucked the most was changing completely how i eat and what i drinked.
so now i take a ton of groundballs as well, and squat like drills to get my legs under me , and i still run a lot , and do two a days with hitting , but it took a long long time to get in shape...
and the try-outs werent nothing major i went in with Low expectations cuz i just wanted to see what would happen, if i didnt get picked up i wasnt gonna be upset cuz i knew it had been a while , somethin just told me to go cuz i found out about the workout probably 7 days before it took place, there were only a total of 15 players there which was kinda surprising , 10 position players and 5 pitchers, we Ran 60's , then threw from our positions , then hit on the field then that was it ....
then about 2 weeks later i got a call, what helped was i already had some type of accolades from both High School and College, cuz realistically you cant just judge someone off a 1 day workout.
so im'a gonna give it my best to try to make the best out of it, thats all i really can do, im excited about it but at the same time just a little nervous cuz it's been a few years since being on a actual team, and actual team practices, live pitching, and just all the stuff that comes with it.
