The Biggest Myth in HipHop is that JaRule's career ended because of 50Cent.

he didnt kill his career but he made people stop fuckin wit him right before his success was over, so history will probably say he killed it. after 50's buzz died down a little bit the hatred bandwagon stopped and allowed ja to put out new york which was my favorite song ever back in fall '04. but after that he fucked up in a few ways with that mirror album. his first single followed the trend of havin lil wayne on ur first single and the second single "body" was just garbage. i've always been pullin for him low key tho, out of sympathy i guess

(First off this has nothing to do with our burly ambassador of peace Sir William Rozay.)

"Blood in my Eye" (2003) sold a little under Gold but lets keep in mind that the failure of that project was due to Ja-Rule straying away from his hit-song Hip-pop formula for a bunch of diss tracks and Hussien Fatal from the Outlawz on 4 of the songs so he really thought he was Pac!!!

"Last Temptation" (2002) did not Flop it sold 237,000 units in its first week and went platinum at a Milli, but it was the begining of the end of his reign because he went too far PoP with that corny Grease video for "Mesmorize"...

"R.U.L.E" (2004) was Ja-Rules last solo-album on Murder inc. and it went Gold and had a Top 5 Gold single that was #1 in the U.K..

Now listen to me: In 2005 Def Jam and JayZ kicked Murder Inc off its label over that Fed ish and started Def Jam South; they left Irv and Ja-Rule for dead and Iovine damn near black-balled them, by the time they found a home it was already too late.

Im simply saying that their were a myriad of factors that contributed to Ja-Rules loss in popularity and you cant give 50Cent complete credit.

Its unfair to Ja-Rule to make it seem as if 50Cents "Diss-records" were the sole factor that slowed his career down.

pretty much and i'm almost positive r.u.l.e. went platinum too. not gonna lie i copped it lol the physical version.

I co-sign this thread.

When 50 debuted, Ja Rule's sales were already declining. People act like Ja Rule was in the prime of his career and 50 came out and destroyed Ja's fanbase overnight. Ja Rule's decline was gradual. It had little to do with 50.

I think its fair to say, 50’s under dog appear then the huge co-sign from 2 of the biggest names in hip hop along with all the slick promotion and marketing of a major definitely play a good percentage in Ja’s down wind slide.

Who in the hood would listen to Ja Rule? you would get clowned so badly if you bumped Ja Rule in the hood

The Singing was atrocious, Voice is the worst and Lyrics were weak

I disagree, 50 came wid the diss records and people stop fucking wit Rule all together....

Aint a case of fickle fans.....

Its a case of 50 made him look stupid and he couldn't bounce back with good music. Something that Ross managed to do.

The irony is that 50 dissed Ja's style and then took it and ran wid it.

Fickle fans belong to 50 for not recognising this.

keep it 100, ja rule drove himself crazy during that ja rule/50 cent beef

Slept on. Nigga went out like Hitler: fighting wars on too many fronts. 50, Em, and Bust at once? All his talent went into beefs that only the net cared about. Like Shan, he paid attention to a little dude and gave his star away.

He really did end ja's career.

''Your the reason i stopped buying ja rule''---Dee-1

That quote sums it up.

50 brainwashed white america ja is wack so his c.d sales and popularity fell like the stock market in 08 because of it.

I never fucked with ja rule.

ja said in an interview 50 won the beef on wax.

ja also said in that interview that HE WON THE BEEF IN THE STREETS. What do you think about that? true or false.

While i admit 50 played a part, yall can't deny that Ja started making terrible music. His last two albums were terrible and then releasing that bullshit video based on Grease.......GREASE NIGGA????? We have seen rappers have some heat dropped on them as far as beef goes. IMO Ether was one of the greatest diss records of all time but Jay survived why cuz he makes good music. If we can agree on one thing about hip-hop is this. You can go on a good run and have good sales, but in the end if you don't make quality music consistently....your career will end.

False nigga. The streets or hip-hop don't accept moral victories. He got crushed in the streets first with all the mixtapes disses he made towards him.

Great Thread!

U are right, it was alot of stuff going on at Murder Inc.

But 50 started going around talking bout he ended Ja Rule's career when it wasn't even 50.

They had all that legal stuff going on and from what I heard, Ja had a part in Murder Inc.

So if they coming down on the label, they aiming for the ones in charge which was Irv Gotti, Chris Gotti and Ja Rule.

Murder Inc. was similar to Roc-A Fella, Irv was the Dame Dash, Chris was the Biggs and Ja was the Jay-Z.

They started Murder Inc. for Ja Rule just like Roc-A-Fella was started cause nobody wanted to sign Jay-Z.

Basically 50 got hot right around the time shit started happening at Murder Inc.

And one thing about 50 I couldn't stand was the reason he started beefing with Fat Joe and Jadakiss.

He said that they was working with the enemy when they did "New York, New York".

If I do recall Joe and Jada had history with Ja before 50 got on the scene.

Ja got history with Joe because he wrote the hook to "What's Love" while Irv made the beat and Ashanti sung.

Then before that Ashanti did the hook on Big Pun's "That's How We Roll" from his Yeeeah Baby album.

Jada got history with Ja from the days when he was touring with Jay-Z or The Ruff Ryders.

So 50 came in and wanted nobody to work with Ja and when he didn't get his way, he started beefs with them.

The same reason he started going at Lil Wayne cause he worked on Ja Rule's "Uh Oh" song.

Come on bruh, Ja was breaching out, writing for J.Lo and Ashanti.
The same shit 50 jumped on Ja for, he is doing the same to this day. Hell the "Curtis" album sounded like an R&B album Lol.
50 sings "I'll Take You To The Candy Shop, I'll Let U Lick The Lollipop", isn't that the same type of shit 50 was dissing Ja for doing.
50 and Ja had beef way before 50 signed with Shady/Aftermath, so u talking Ja wanted to hate rather than embrace, Why would he want 2?

Another factor that was mentioned in the context of Jay-z was the blackballing that took place when all of this started to go down. Murder inc. was blackballing people and what no so when 50 came along alot of people in the game rolled with him just to go against the inc. It was like a changing of the guard in rap music. Also I remember Eminem bragging about having people blackballed on records so by Ja going at him and 50 he made some powerful enemies in music.

But that aside, I think this whole situation is deeper than rap. The feds brought down murder inc. I wish somone would speak on the murder inc/death row/ rap-a-lot alliance that was taking place. They took death row from suge (some say no limit as well) and have been after rap-a-lot from day one. So do you think they would sit back and let them "put their money together"? The source was made to bow down as well when they started exposing too much around the same time. It was like they just took the magazine away from them damn near overnight. Many don't want to believe in conspiracies but something is going on here! It's to simplistic to say 50 ended ja.

I also agree with the Ja/Lil Wayne track. When the track dropped EVERYTHING wayne was on blew up. The track isn't bad ether, I think it should have taken off. But if you are being paid to play and not to play I could see how it could fail.

Ja doesn't get enough credit for the disses he made back during the beef their. It's not like he didn't hold his own and the what's Hallie going to grow up to be line is probably the most memorable verse out of everything.

If you anti 50 like this weirdo t/s who consistently post pics of 50 and makes threads then u will agree

But realistically ja rule was fallin off that song wit bobby brown was trash then he lost all credibility wit the grease video

50 came in at the perfect time put ja in a body bag and threw him in the river

50 lyrically destroyed ja rule on backdown and the gunit mixtape 'ja fool' skits made this cat become a laughingstock

After ja stepped way outta line and overstepped his bounds by attacking em he then got buried again and hs been mia since 05

Right here is what happened to Ja. He stopped making good music. And then he said something about Hailey and Em tore his ass out the frame!!
