Eaton is a good ab and great defender he's a tough out like daniel murphy they need to put him in the corner to maximize his defensive ability get werth out games when they have a lead

i bet if they traded for mccutchen they wouldnt be as mad

but eaton was significantly better last year than him

though a significant portion of his WAR is defensive WAR from playing rf where he is above average as opposed to playing cf where he is below average so as long as eaton stays in right field i think he will be better than cutch again this year as well + that team friendly contract is nice

cutch is owed $28 mil over the next 2 years

eaton $18.5M over the next 3 with team options the 2 after that for $20 mil total

or they can buy him out

not many teams can sell 3 million tickets and lose 95+ games over multiple years like the chicago cubs

so the question with the white sox now is if they are determined to ride through the few years when their attendance is going to tank (even moreso) -- if they are serious about leveraging all their current assets for youngsters they are going to be awful for about 3 years or more -- in the years when the club is good and attendance is respectable i think a lot of those fans are just casual baseball fans -- even though die hard fans say they want a rebuild their history shows a lot of them wont show up again until the white sox are competitive

the big challenge for the front office will be to stick to their guns and not get spooked when its just me out there in the crowd and abort the plan

because i know how jerry thinks

it was made even more clear to me when the white sox traded chris sale away

seems to me the white sox may have forfeited another player in exchange for having the rest of moncadas signing bonus paid for by the red sox

the giants were woat bad with saves last year and now at this very moment them and the cubs are the only top n.l team with a closer

so either the dodgers or nats (or both if jansen goes to miami) are gonna have a big ole HELP WANTED sign up for the 9th inning

robertson stuff wasnt as good last year

its like he has lost some zip on his pitches

but with the closer market exploding this offseason they can probably get a decent return for him

so if otani gets posted these teams wouldnt be able to sign him unless he signed for less than 300k

Can't do this

There is no signing a one-year deal or having a handshake agreement with the team to release him. The rules, as written, are airtight, and no team is going to defy MLB’s wishes trying to sign Otani, no matter how good he is.

I don't know how it works in regards to signing him like the international penalties,pool money etc.I think the cubs would be good after next year anyway.I gotta ask a co worker he be on this stuff
