I can't remember who in here called him that but smh.

1 of the best times of the baseball offseason

mvp time and whether mike trout will win or not and then the resulting fallout from it

he has now played for 5 full seasons

has won 2 mvp awards

and finished 2nd the other 3 times

hes still just 25 years old

since he played his 1st full season (2012) his mlb ranks are

4th in ba

2nd in obp

3rd in slg

2nd in ops

5th in hits

5th in HRs

10th in SBs

1st in runs scored

7th in rbi

1st in total bases

1st in extra base hits

all doing this through age 20-24

SHIT

obviously trout was still a 1st rounder so he was regarded somewhat but its always been a mystery to me why he didnt go at the very least top 5

i read in a SI article that the angels allegedly knew how good he was and there was a game where some teams went to scout him -- they were also in attendance but had seen him a few times before -- i guess he had a terrible game so the teams that were there didnt see the big deal -- the angels head scout that day walked away happy because he knew if trout played 1 of his better games they wouldnt have been able to draft him

interesting write up on deals from espn
http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/76381/a-trade-for-every-team

lol that sale proposal makes me sick

puig being the 'big name' in this proposed deal makes me want to throw up (and i like the guy)

hes a throw in at best in any trade

urias or bust for sale

if the white sox trade sale to l.a and urias isnt coming back to chicago its an L regardless of who else is involved

most interesting one to me was cutch to the indians though

i think that would be an amazing fit for that team

great player on a bad/mediocre team

damn

thats a great comparison too

trout is exactly like griffey in the 90s

mvp caliber practically every year

but his consistently brilliant performance on mediocre teams makes other players more easier for voters to choose as mvp

GROSS

in that espn article i posted -- giolito is brought up in a trade with the twins for dozier straight up and it says first sentence 'nationals should think about moving him before the luster begins to fade'

he looked very pedestrian in his short mlb stint -- yeah i know its a small sample size but hes already had tommy john too and other injuries besides that if i remember correctly -- id definitely take him but not as the centerpiece of a trade and he wouldnt be my ideal target -- the white sox develop pitching pretty well anyway -- they need bats

hes a huge question mark

like all prospects

yes

but even more so

jim bowden has the likeliness of sale being traded at 80%

im starting to have reservations about the white sox front office being capable of pulling off a great trade in their favor

If I'm hahn I'm textin dombrowski

Give me kopech(syndergaard 2.0),Devers,Bradley,lower level prospect with upside and benentendi for sale that's a done deal. Can expand the deal if they want eaton or robertson

3b,cf,lf and a tor pitcher. That's equal value for both teams imo

im not liking a lot of these trade proposals im seeing

i think 1 of 3 things is happening

1. every team knows the the white sox want to deal him now and are lowballing them

2. teams are not even factoring sale being under team control at a reasonable cost for 3 more years into the equation

3. maybe im just overrating sale value (i do think hes somewhat overrated but considering the market i dont think i am)

all i know is the white sox develop pitching pretty well anyway so id much rather see them get a couple bats in a sale trade instead

hahn and dombrowski need to stop fronting they both need each other

Most of the trade proposals are from writers, they have nothin to do but speculate so you see these weak trade offers as a result

Yea I agree. If sale was a fa this winter we'd be hearing about 6-7 year 180+ mil contract offers

Any team trying to acquire duke is gonna have to give up somethin,I do think he's a great pitcher but not kershaw levels of dominant but the value of the contract alone and getting a dominant lefty in his prime is gonna cost, Especially with the price of pitching.Grienke got 6 years 206 mil and he was 32

Yankees,Dodgers and the Red sox need a tor pitcher and have the assets.I'd be hitting up all 3 and create a bidding war.If they're not willing to give up a power package go sign some bum instead and watch your team fall short again in october.I hope it aint the dodgers cuz I aint tryna deal wit that

New cba reportedly making rosters 26 spots now and september call ups will be 28-29 instead of expanded to 40

Don't think the nl gets a dh(wish they would do that) unless there's a last second change

sale would definitely be more dangerous in the n.l

because of his value (ability, talent, age, contract) being so high it is impossible to evaluate a fair return for him and thats not even taking into account this weak ass fa market -- there arent really any comparables in value traded within recent years -- but we know all these teams know -- they know -- sale will require a teams 'untouchable' prospect

the bidding war is what i think these GMs are afraid of because this is some unprecedented shit

especially dombrowski

after what the red sox did last year the pressure is on to improve in 1 specific department

all eyes

be it fans or observers of the game

are looking at pitching for them

i think hes trying to play it cool especially with his track record being so out there

when the winter meetings start in a couple of weeks i think the market is going to play out such that whoever wants him will really have to back up the truck

once ian nova gets a 5 year 70 million dollar contract i want to see these gms keep trying to front

the twins have hired latroy hawkins as a special assistant

according to bob nightingale lol this is the shrewdest move all winter

i never knew hawkins was really that valued as a baseball mind

good for him
