I knew the cubs weren't gonna win the way kluber was pitching the 1st 3 innings.Also didn't expect to get game 1 tonight is the game I think they'll get

Schwarber missed a hr by like 3-4 feet he almost hit it out the park his 2nd ab(He coulda been a hero in the 8th but struck out ) and the cubs made miller work baez,bryant,zobrist and schwarber all had good ab's vs miller that can help later in the series

Rondon shouldn't be in any close games he low key been getting tagged since returning from that triceps injury

the silver linings from game 1 for the cubs are as follows

1. this was close to a must win for the indians with their only dependable starter going

2. andrew miller looked shaky and had to throw 46 pitches which probably means he isnt available for game 2

3. schwarber remains a stud he looked like he hasnt missed a beat at the plate

other than that it was pretty much all good for cleveland

between the very shaky status of the rest of the indians starting pitching and how dominant kluber was and how he only pitched 88 pitches one has to believe that francona is planning on running him out there in game 4 -- i think the indians almost HAVE to do that -- it remains to be seen how effective kluber will be on 3 days rest but kluber is basically the only starter they can trust since the cubs usually chew up weaker pitching

gotta hope cubs get good arrieta tonight in what has the feel of a near must win game for the cubs

Baez missed lindor on that tag the indians shoulda challenged it ended up not mattering but he was safe

I was impressed wit that walk schwarber drew on miller.He took pitches others been swinging at all postseason.Wouldn't be surprised at all if schwarber hit a hr or 2 I'm glad he in the line up cuz he will make a pitcher work and destroy any mistakes.

on mlb network last week they talked about contrares and how in game 2 of the nlcs he just let the bat sit on his shoulder and watched kershaw pitch -- they talked about how they thought he was just studying kershaw and that it would pay off in game 6 (which is obviously did) -- while batters were not letting the bat sit on their shoulder necessarily last night i felt like they were just watching pitches last night

will be interesting to see how they approach kluber in game 4 or 5

His 2 seamer was nasty it started out the zone then finished on the corner caught a lot of them looking(coghlan & baez in particular) russell looked awful.Zobrist was the only hitter who did good vs him

You have to use a similar approach as kershaw if you get down in the count specifically 0-2 you're food batters hit like .121 vs kluber in 2 strike counts.Francona is starting him games 4 & 7(if necessary) so the more they see him I think they'll do better.Don't trust arrieta hope he proves me wrong but I like the cubs chances vs bauer he hasn't been good the 2nd half his splits don't give him an advantage and he better on the road than at home.

cubs hitter seemed to have a better approach to kluber as the game went on

tough loss but nobody got injured

schwarber looks like hes still a legitimate hitter

and they wont see kluber again until at least game 4 even if he goes on short rest and i think it was important to make miller work hard last night to get through 2 innings -- cubs had more success on miller in 1 inning than toronto/texas did in 2 series

getting good looks at both of these pitchers (particularly miller) is helpful moving forward

sucks for the moment

if they lose tonight though

You had that inevitable sense that somethin bad was about to happen.Edwards should replace rondon slot in high leverage situations he's shown he isn't 100% or just don't have it keep him out,strop has looked better than him.

but he does not inspire much confidence at this point

i think that may be last time you see rondon in any kind of meaningful situation this series
