when they get good pitching they dont hit

he had the worst era in the league for a starter and went up against the guy with the lowest era today and things went accordingly

he has been absolutely miserable for the entirety of this season

the giants could easily look back and realize continuing to trot out peavy every 5th day cost them a division title

stanton been trash at the plate this last week

yesterday he went 1-4 which could be considered busting out his slump because prior to that he had gone 0-17 with 15 strikeouts and i heard on the radio that he swung at something like 46 times in that span and made contact with the ball twice or something like that

whats interesting about this though is lost in all the hoopla of odor punching bautista last sunday was an outfield collision involving ozuna/stanton (the collision wasnt bad but the falls and impact were) and his slump started right after that and i havent heard one single mention of this slump having anything to do at all with that outfield collision -- which it may not but stanton of course has a history of being beaned in the face, requiring facial reconstruction and he supposedly had concussion like symptoms at that time

frank thomas used to get criticized for taking walks too often with runners on

abreu doing just the opposite right now

he was such a good hitter the last few seasons with pretty much no protection around him and this year with a much better lineup he is struggling -- his mindset seems to be that im supposed to be an rbi guy so i need to almost force the issue so basically he goes up in those situation and swings at everything

he needs to change his approach
