At 1st I thought dave roberts was trippin but I didnt know that rookie had Tommy John surgery 2 years ago and he said he was tired so it was the right move and I read that was a front office call not roberts, but as soon as they took him out a walk then game tying home run

his swing still looks disgusting it just wont translate to consistency + hes still chasing pitches out of the zone and getting blown away on inside stuff -- usually i like a guy who hits to all fields but he really isnt making solid contact (if any) with his approach -- i wish hed become more of a pull hitter since he seems like hed rip 400 foot homers regularly if he did so

even if his BA and OBP might suffer for it

But he starts the rehab at triple a today and should be on the cubs by the end of the week.Also wit schwarber out they can put bryant or zobrist in left the days soler rests and have baez and la stella play 2nd and 3rd or vice versa

this roster is wide open for baez to earn serious playing time if hes able to hit with how valuable and versatile he is defensively

i heard maddon in ST say baez will be the backup 1B

so hes basically the backup IF at all 4 spots and will probably get some time in the OF as well
