well

that was my 4th straight home opener and the second in a row that made me wish i would have stayed at the crib -- what an awful game and what awful way to greet the white sox fans -- there was no life in the crowd, even controlling for the awful weather because any excitement got deflated by the top of the 2nd -- it was a team effort though pretty much everyone contributed

danks pissed all over himself

avila brain shut down

avi got caught napping

and the offense kept swinging when salazar couldnt keep the ball in the zone

other than frazier hitting another homerun i saw nothing positive

just more of the same

and i know its early but im done with the whole avi garcia thing

he looks every bit the part but goddamn if hes not the frankenstein monster of former promising white sox players with all the wrong attributes taken

the fielding of dayan viciedo

the power of gordon beckham

the plate discipline of jeff keppinger

the contact skills of adam dunn

the baserunning acumen of, well, too many names could work here

and the leadership qualities of adam laroche raggedy ass son

the DH spot will be the death of this team, it felt like they were missing a bat on paper this winter -- it has proven to be true and will probably continue to be proven true until its properly addressed

bryant

arrieta

lester

heyward

russell

and maybe even fowler

these are the guys i think would have been much worse for the cubs to lose

there was definitely reminiscent of that sick feeling when rose went down in the city yesterday but the difference is the cubs are still an elite team without schwarber

theo said it best

"Twenty-four hours ago I thought we were well positioned to win in large part because of Kyle's presence on the team," President Theo Epstein said. "And now we're really positioned to win for Kyle.

the fun quotient took a hit though

had such a good postseason last fall i really was eager to see what a full year would do for him

Damn that's some bullshit for Schwarber..

And yo..who the fuck is this Trevor Story?! Is he "supposed" to be this legit?! I never heard his name before and now he starting his rookie season with all these homers

Where the fuck did this dude Trevor Story come from got damn? First player in history to hit home runs in each of his first four games, 2 of those were multi homerun games

and only two have been at coors + not one of them were cheap

not one

the bomb to center was close but it was the deepest part of the park

the line drive shot he hit for his first opposite field he turned on like a mfer, his hand speed looked crazy and he dont seem all that ripped and jacked up but he might got that wrist flip so the power could be real -- they said on mlb network that he was a high strikeout guy in the minors so i expect for the league to catch up to him but i could see him putting up big power numbers especially playing half his games in colorado

Same here, kind of like Young Joc last year

At 1st I thought dave roberts was trippin but I didnt know that rookie had Tommy John surgery 2 years ago and he said he was tired so it was the right move and I read that was a front office call not roberts, but as soon as they took him out a walk then game tying home run

I aint trippin that's a big bat to lose but the cubs aren't just gonna rely on power they had 10 walks vs the dbacks the other day this team is gonna score runs in a bunch of ways.

Long term this might force schwarber to be an DH and as far this season this could mean contreras could get called up

My issue was not with Roberts. It was that damn bullpen. There weakness is becoming the Dodgers identity. It's becoming a running joke going on 3 plus seasons now.

yeah he was gonna be a force in the middle of the lineup but cant forget what soler did in the postseason and his ceiling, we will see how much of manny ramirez tutoring has gotten through to soler

baez coming back and taking that LF spot would be ideal

with fowler, heyward, soler and sczur you already have 4 OF + bryant who moved there after kyle got hurt and is reliable

cubs the golden state warriors of baseball

they can blitz you with ease

this team is going to demoralize a lot of pitching staffs this year
