Yeah I'm in agreement with both paying that contract, that's nuts, I just know ya offense was hella inconsistent and the secondary pitchers were definitely lacking....still a long offseason so I guess you're right I shouldn't count yall out...

They'll be straight dodgers #1 prospect is a pitcher named julio urias he's 19 in double a he'll probably be up next season if not definitely in 2017 and they signed one of the best cuban pitchers this past summer he like 18-19 too.They got a lot of young talent

after watching what lackey did to the cubs in that first game and even the 2nd one (until baez got him) i like this move for the cubs -- i dont look at the money i look at the years when it comes to baseball contracts -- 2 is perfect now the draft pick does hurt but its a lot less than what the other mid tier guys would have cost and yeah hes old as fuck but he has aged gracefully and his last 3 or 4 season since TJ surgery indicates he can keep it up

hes gone 189, 198 and 218 innings the last 3 years

if he can give the cubs 190+ this year thats exactly what they need to stabilize the pitching staff and even if he regresses a little to something more like a 3.5 something era

now if the cubs could get lackey, heyward and trade for one of these pitchers (even at the cost of soler as long as they sign heyward) then thats a hell of an offseason

greinke has been honest in the past about going wherever the money is so its refreshing to see a star player actually tear down the walls of artificiality and say 'hey, i dont give a shit about anything else, just show me the fucking money' lmao that being said i remember back in his kc days that there was a big deal about his anxiety issues etc

MLB teams can earn the right to negotiate with Maeda for 30 days by agreeing to pay Hiroshima a maximum fee of $20 million.

The 27-year-old right-hander is a two-time winner of the Sawamura Award given to Japan's top pitcher.

Maeda matched a career high in wins this season with a 15-8 record, and a 2.09 ERA. He also helped Japan win the bronze medal at the Premier12 tournament last month.

$32 million for 2 years is nothing somebody by the name of mike pelfrey got 16 mil for two years

the 16 lackey is getting puts him around homer bailey, anibal sanchez, john danks and well under rick porcello so there is a lot to like about this deal

short term commintment + high upside

the guy is a bulldog and has excellent post season experience and he was throwing like he was in anaheim in that cubs series -- i heard he credited his success this season to the development of his cutter and new arm angle + you take him away from the cardinals -- the fans were killing theo on the radio yesterday smh i dont know what they were expecting but the deals price and greinke got were ridiculous -- spending 200 mil on pitching is the last thing they need to do right now they do not need another 'ace' it would destroy their growth and sustainability potential for the future

the cubs can still sign another pitcher via free agency or work the trade deals -- not doing so is something i would expect from hendry, not the epstein regime + i still believe hendricks can get better
