This lineup gonna be nasty and the cubs have a true CF.edit: I see the cubs traded coghlan so I guess fowler gonna play cf/lf and rf

Soler might end up getting traded for a young pitcher.Cuz basically it's gonna be fowler in cf,heyward in rf and schwarber in lf.I don't know what happens wit soler :#

Fowler wanted an opt out after 1 year with the orioles and they said no he never officially signed.He said his heart was here and wanted to play for the cubs he took less dough and can be a fa again next winter or in winter 17/18 cuz it's an mutual opt out which gives almora(cf of the future) all the time he needs to develop in triple a.Now every weakness the cubs had that got exposed in the NLCS(outfield defense,contact) been addressed.Heyward is an elite defender in rf soler was below average and soler can face lefties cuz schwarber struggles vs lefties and the cubs are deep af now.Shouts to theo this front office is Goat they stay in the mix on everything

Theo gon be up for an extension soon. Mike Wilbon was saying he should get 20/year. That sounds crazy but I wouldn't even be mad lol...If I'm him I need at least 10 if Friedman (I think that's his name) in LA is getting 6

Yea but they also taking away the neighborhood play for 2nd baseman which is still gonna result in more slides/collisions

Owner already on record saying the extension will be agreed too soon and theo will be the highest paid exec in baseball when it's done.20 mil a year is ridiculous that's more than players make 5 years 45 mil is what I'd do

I'm watching the news realizing the cubs LOADED.I can't believe fowler returned this team deep as fuck baez & soler would be starters on any other team and they both coming off the bench + fowler and zobrist will hit 1-2 and both are switch hitters.Heyward and Fowler been knowing each other since high school so they already cool.

if you had to nitpick one concern heading into the season it would be the OF defense because schwarber/heyward/soler could be shaky but thats no longer a problem with fowler resigning + it gives the cubs tons of flexibility in the day to day lineup and at the trade deadline to shore anything up

maddon being maddon i could see a bunch of guys that will see less PAs than a normal starter from another team with the infinite variety of lineups and multiple versatile parts the cubs now have

nevermind, i just read the penalty for managers excessively delaying the game by several seconds two or three times a game is a visit from the umpire that will take even longer

why have a clock in the first place if theres no punishment on these things

they wont speed up the game any

Yup.That was low key my only concern cuz heyward is really a right fielder,schwarber still learning how to play outfield and soler takes the scenic routes on simple fly balls + the cubs didn't know who would hit lead off either.With fowler back that solves 2 issues and think about those 13-14 inning games that take forever to end now the cubs gonna have some potent pinch hitters and can do all types of line up changes and have quality depth for any potential injuries.

That was dope how they surprised the team at camp yesterday with the announcement.Fowler turned down 20 mil to re-sign with the cubs,duke really liked it here and wanted to be on that team that gets to the world series.

he showed up in cubs colors 12s i seen that

rf is definitely a much better fit for heyward especially considering how tough the corners play in wrigley and not only does great depth makes them really prepared to handle any long term injury but if everyone stays healthy then its motivation to raise their game to stay in the lineup

a game aint been played and the roster basically set

this spring training will be interesting its gonna be a total opposite of last year with nobody really trying to make the club -- everybody just going through the preparation process so how they juggle ABs and innings will be something to follow
