i thought hed get a 5th year

my guess is the mets offered something like 100 mil for 4 years and he got a 5th year from at least 1 team but wanted to stay a met so they upped it to 110 mil and a full no trade

cespedes clearly thrives in ny

really him and the mets needed each other equally so it had to be a fair deal

The mets offense sucked for the most part with cespedes so I don't care about him re signing

Hamilton would be a good look especially since fowler most likely gone but i don't see any nl central teams helping the cubs without ridiculous asking prices.Hamilton is a one man offense when he gets on problem is he doesn't get on consistently but the numbers from those last 47 games are impressive

i wonder what they would ask back and settle for

the fact that theyre willing to trade him makes me think something funny going on though because if they thought that small sample size was real -- there is no way they would trade dude because if billy hamilton could get on base more often hed be right up there among the greatest leadoff men in history with his speed

might be trying to sell high on him

id trade soler for hamilton because i think soler sucks + speed is fun

at worst you can just platoon him and bring him in for defensive/pinch run purposes

but yeah i dont see too many teams helping the cubs let alone a division rival

Unless there's a last second concession these dickheads about to have a lockout. Now the issue is the luxury tax

dodgers owner said they good and it's business as usual.I don't know if he frontin

apparently houston was in on cespedes

but now that he is off the market reports saying theyre turning their attention back to encarnacion

Cubs signed John Jay.Nice left handed cf platoon option

He can hit lefties too

Want the cubs to go after smyly from the rays to use him in the andrew miller lefty multiple innings reliever role

Sign john jay(1 year deal) to platoon wit almora in cf or acquire blackmon from the rockies

Pipe dream sign kenley jansen.Don't really think they need anything else

:o My calling in life is to be a gm

that spells the end for dex but that was inevitable

the cubs werent giving him the years he wants

especially when reddick got 55 mil so fowler will probably get close to 70-75 million

i like this move because while you dont want almora taking over cf full time just yet -- you also dont want to block him either -- jay isnt an upgrade in any sense of the word but he can give you a little flexibility and the cubs front office has shown an ability to identify guys like this who are on the verge of an upswing

he had a bad 2015 but bounced back last year

The Cubs could have gone after one of the pricier bats in the market, but there is already heavy expectation that Chicago is holding its dollars for something bigger -- the cost of restocking the pitching, for example, and perhaps a potential run at the multi-talented Shohei Otani, the MVP of Japan’s Pacific League. A star pitcher and designated hitter, Otani will be the most sought-after player next winter, and rival executives believe the Cubs will be all-in on that pursuit when the contracts of Jake Arrieta and John Lackey are set to expire.

Solid signing cuz almora aint ready to start in cf everyday, cuz he low key is baez in the box he's not patient and rarely walks.Jay also is a good defensive cf(not in petco but that park is spacious) and can move to left late in games and makes good contact.

Definitely gonna miss fowler. Now trade soler and probably canderlario(wish they would keep him) for pitching(starting or bullpen)

buster says other mlb execs are saying the white sox are serious about moving sale and have informed clubs any player with fewer then 4 years of team control is available

that means

quintana

rodon

eaton

anderson

are not on block

sale

abreu

frazier

cabrera

robertson

are on the block

these dudes better figure this shit out

the white sox got these teams right where they want them

i didnt realize he had one of the best -- if not the best --fielding percentage among CFs last season

i like jay as a platoon/4th outfielder

he doesnt slug for shit but hes a career .287 hitter with a .352 obp

good under the radar signing

pittsburgh will probably be without their most likable and least likable players next year

so by losing rodriguez and potentially dealing cutch it pretty much cancels each other out along with the pirates likability to me

i just heard on the radio that tim raines use to only slide belly first in order to protect the cocaine vial in his back pocket
