i hope theres nothing to these alex gordon rumors

he will be 32

his great defense will only diminish from here on out and i think he would also cost a comp pick

if the white sox are going to throw 100 mil at someone at least let it be upton who is 28

but id rather it be neither of them

So who you want cespedes?

lazarito

the new wonder out of cuba hes '16'

hes gonna have a showcase on january 8 where scouts for every team are expected to attend -- by the end of next month, teams will know if they can sign him in january or the next signing period which is in july -- it will be interesting to see when the league decides he is eligible because if they dont make him eligible in january and teams have to wait until july then several big spender teams wouldnt be able to sign him

cubs, dodgers, giants and royals since they exceeded their limits this year and will have to wait two years to spend over 300k and the angels, dbacks, rays, red sox and yankees wouldnt be able to sign him either since they went passed their bonus pool money last year

if they make him eligible in january then i believe every team will be able to sign him

its all very confusing all i know after reading nightengale shit is that the kid seems pretty determined and that bodes well for his success and according to the picture that accompanied the article, he is a physical specimen

If he's eligible this signing period I'm sure theo will be on it cuz the cubs lost 2 picks signing lackey and heyward and will use the international fa to add young talent since they're already over the limit

yeah

the white sox need good defense, obp and slg

each fa OF is mising one of these to a degree but has the other two

cespedes/obp

upton/def

gordon/slg

so when i factor in everything

age

defense

compensation (cespedes isnt tied to a pick)

bat

i think cespedes would be the best fit

word

signing these high profile cubans (ages 16-21) + international fa now would do the cubs system better than having the 27th (or 40th-ish) pick in the years to come

and you know theo knows this

chapman gonna get suspended but it may work out better that way

supposedly if he is suspended for 46 games or more he wont qualify for fa

so depending on the length of the suspension the yankees could also have him for 2017

from what i been hearing and reading it really sounds like the white sox are gonna end up with gordon or cespedes

cespedes is a better player and 2 years younger than gordon but those same factors also make gordon a cheaper signing (i would imagine) -- i want nothing to do with gordon but if its cespedes i hope its for 4 years with a 5th year team option -- which i doubt but maybe they can front load the contract or something because i think his game is gonna age horribly

whoever signs him will get two good years and thats it

only silver lining to him signing 6 years or more would be that he wouldnt cost them a draft pick which i feel they are not in the position to give up and who knows with him signing and jose abreau being already here and their history of cuban players it might put the white sox in position to sign the next top cuban FA prospects
