Shaquille O'Neal will enter the Hall of Fame this week as one of the most dominant big men in basketball history.

“I only played 30 percent of my real game,” O’Neal told The Vertical. “I had a great career, but I didn’t get a chance to showcase what I can really do. That’s because the double- and triple-teams were coming so quick, I had to dominate, dominate, dominate inside. I had the ability to step out, go around defenders, dribble by people, but I never got to show that.

“I had to focus on being the most powerful, dominant player to ever play the game.”

O'Neal very quickly became a physical force coming out of LSU to the Orlando Magic.

"When I first entered the league, I figured out my niche early. Not only did I want to be the best big man, I wanted to be the most dominant. A lot of people can claim the title of the best, but only a few can say they were the most dominant. That was my goal. I wanted to be in the conversation championship-wise and stats-wise, changing the game like Mike [Jordan] and Wilt [Chamberlain] did. I really wished I could have continued out my last year in Boston."

I remember Bill Simmons in his book had an analogy about Shaq being cool with having fun and getting straight B's than immersing himself completely in the game (A student). And he was still one of the most dominant players ever.

the one and done era has made scouting so difficult

youre basically guessing at which nba athletes are capable of developing skills -- thats why oladipo the one for me -- he is going into his 4th season in the nba after being in college for 3 years -- i think his potential is a bit overrated at this point of his career and what you see is what youre likely to get sans maybe slightly better shooting

he aight

people describe shaq as a power guy which he was but he also had a very nice short hook, quick baseline spin and a spinback

those touch shots made him unguardable

guys were always braced for power moves from him instead

shaq is one guy i can confidently say we will never see another of

still find myself amazed at the downfall of lance stephenson

perennial all star looking

top restricted fa 3 season ago

to now being an unwatned unrestricted fa

makes me wonder what couldve happended had he stayed in indiana

It's Indiana and Vogel's system. Look what happened to Hibbert. That team was something special and that was our year to win. F Indiana.

When I get a chance I'll find my post saying the pacers would son the knicks months in advance before it happened.

Knick fans dumbest fan base on here(metal know his shit the rest camby gif) anybody who thought that fraud knickstape squad would win anything is a fool.

For the record I was never convinced that squad would win anything unless Amar'e was going to turn back the clock.. All that 3 point shit I was never a fan of..
