I get my energy from my inner G

I be in outer space, but I got inner peace

So tell my enemies that they can’t injure me

I know that irritates, you have my sympathies

Well, you should protest, yeah, you should picket me

I’m on a losing strike, I’m on a winning streak

I’m out in left field, I’m speaking mentally

But that’s a better places than where the benches be

I’m feelin’ really good, me and different beat

Me and my different drummer, he play the timpanis

See, that’s what got me here, you hearin’ me

Me on my black man in the future shit, call me Billy Dee

See, I’m just forward-looking, that’s how I really see

See, while you Valentimes, I’m thinking Christmas trees

And that’s how this would be, even at Mickey D’s

Semicolon, close parentheses

Hhid was mediocre and unintitled was above average.(but boring in spots) I won't count DR because it's not a solo, even though it's overrated on the IC

HHID and Untitled >>>>>>>>>Lasers

Man what happened to us?

Geographically they moved us

From africa

We was once happiness pursuers

Now we back stabbing, combative and abusive

The african and arab go at it they most muslim

Used to be moving in unison

Disputes would end

Bounty hunters and grape street get cool again

Some standard housing

Got the young running rampant

Wilding, for a phantom

He can style in

Mask on his face

Grabbing his luger

Saying, 'gnobody move or I'll shoot ya'

Man you're expiring

Catch 25 and he does it like a man

He sides with black,

White pride and mexican

Survive the best he can

Strap a shank to his thigh

Why do we all collide?

Why do the young die?

Extortion, murder and burglary

Tattoos his chest

Says his enemies don't deserve to breathe

That's part of the problem.

It's an unwritten rule in Hip Hop that if an artist releases 4 classics in a row, that artist has the credentials to be considered a G.O.A.T. lyricist in Hip Hop.

Rakim released his classic Paid In Full 25 plus years ago, but he also released the classics Follow The Leader, Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em and Don't Sweat The Technique as well..he earned his G.O.A.T. title of those 4 releases alone without a weak lapse..all dope in full succession.

Ice Cube did Straight Outta Compton with N.W.A. but went solo and released AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, Death Certificate, The Predator, Lethal Injection..all classic albums in full succession.

Lupe has the credentials no doubt..he released Food And Liquor, The Cool, but Lasers fucked up his flow of succession, but unless he releases his next album that will make Lasers forgettable...well.

real posts.....this generation doesn't overstand that

As good Lupe is in the technical aspect. The nigga still don't have a catalog worth braggin about. And he's still a rhyming robot, there's no connect with his music.

Nas a realer Mc to me..Lupe is cool he can get too nerdy to the point he loses steam in his verses,He loses the average listener and that takes away from his style

My point exactly,He loses the emotions, the charisma...Technically he's a ill wordsmith but most of his work is robotic sounding..Lasers was seriously robotic..Food and liquor had the most emotion

And when he does include some type of emotion, it's always on some observant, 3rd person shit. You can't tell me shit about Lupe Fiasco through his music, and that's a damn shame.

Go To Sleep

I wipe the cool from my eye
Stationed in Antarctica, coldest nigga alive
Flow is Armageddon, might smite crows from the sky
Before you drive you have to wipe locust-es off your rides
But I’m warmin’ up, oceans is on the rise
I’ll be Ocean with eleven associates on my side
Colder than Chris Martin guitarin’, would you look at all these spies?
But they can’t see me, I took out their eyes
Replaced them with some mes, so all they see is hes
But I will never run, not even if they cry
See, I can never fall, not even down their cheek
But I will always ball, let’s see who the first to blink
And I don’t need no passwords, ’cause I don’t need to cheat
But you can say your last words, then you can rest in peace
I’m the hook after your last verse, I’m also like your beat
But I will turn it down, so you can go to sleep

This is a dope verse though.

Its cool..I'm not hating,Lupe is nice but he will only connect with a certain audience..His music won't move you emotionally like pac's nas or biggie's music...When them niggas rap you say damn I feel like that too sometimes!!

I'm glad we are having a true hip hop debate on this forum for once, Lupe vs. Nas. Being a fan of both, Lupe can get to Nas's level, but he isnt there yet. Like what was said before, Lupe hasn't released his own "illmatic" yet. Unlike other legends, Lupe doesn't have that one album that stands out as a all time classic among his peers. That one album where even non hip hop fans know about. Dont get me wrong, Lupe is bad, and has potential to be the greatest of all time. But he is no where close to Nas as of yet. Seeing as how Nas is no where near done, it will be great to see the classics yet to come from both these artists.

Truthfully? Yes I did feel that song but songs like that are too far inbetween,I liked american terrorist too..but even those records didn't move me like Dear mama Juicy or Live now..When you make your message too complex sounding, then people won't easily connect with your music
