And besides, New York niggas was calling Southern rappers lame, but then jacking their slang.

What specific southern slang is cats from NY using? I dont listen to much southern hiphop so I really dont know bout this.. Some examples by Jay Electronica woulda been nice..

Objectively, the South is the dumbest part of the country.

Look at the dropout rates. Look at the graduation rates. Look at the college entrance rates. Look at the reputations of the schools. Look at the underage pregnancy rates. Look at the obesity.

In every category, the South is the worst.

It's the dumbest, the poorest, and the fattest.

WTF @ Bun B being equal to Maino lyrically... Jeezy? Yes. Ross? Yes. Boosie? Of Course. Are all in the same category of the Maino's and Jim Jones's of the east coast. But Bun B is too fuckin ill to be compared... I wouldnt say he's on a Big, Jay-Z, Nas level lyrically but he's more so a Jada, Styles, Fab level lyrically IMO......

bun a legend and i respect him....pero he AIN'T better than fab. and as much as ross is fake to me he way better than maino.

To who? Maino aint that great lyrically and neither is ross... To me Ross and Jeezy is basically the same lyrically but Jeezy has an edge on him because what he raps about is atleast a tad bit relateable and realistic.......

And why do ppl think Ross is so great lyrically? Every single time i ask for Quotables i either get nothing or shit that ppl say "It aint that nice lyrically it just stood out to me" dont let the ochestra in the background confuse what the fuck he's talking about....

Open ur ears mama.......

To be fair and realistic, there is nothing wrong with having an appreciation for instrumentals. There are hundreds of college music programs across the globe that emphasize understanding, appreciation, and education of classical musical periods in which orchestras were the standard of music. There was no one talking, rapping, or singing... just instruments, musicians, composers, and directors. Don't look down on people who enjoy beats but not lyricism.

not so much of "how they have an ear for beats" but how well they can adapt to the beat that's being played...term: riding the beat

That's how y'all percieve it. Alotta of us down here just appreciate the total package. We also understand that you don't have to like just one brand of hip-hop........ I got my music to ride to and I got my music to vibe to with headphones......the problem I have with you New Yawkers is why do y'all care so much about how niggas down here rate our music?? You ain't from here and you don't like most of the music so why spend so much time trying to get us to fall in line with what you all like? Why y'all mad because y'all don't like something that we do?? I never understood that about the mentality up there. You guys demand so much respect but hardly ever return the favor. I mean y'all niggas totally undermine the cultural differences between the eastcoast and the south. Of course if ur judging OUR music by YOUR standards then the score card will always be lopsided.

if a cat can pick hot beats and have a nice flow and decent/good rhymes then great, i'm talking about giving a pass to those bum rappers like lil b, gucci mane etc because they pick hot beats or it bangs in the whip.

.......................... What does that have to do with anything.... See this is the difference in how we rate rappers.... I couldnt tell u who an Average NY rapper is... It's either ur NICE or ur not there's no inbetween... Since Ross aint nice lyrically then.....

False. Fat Joe is average.

Fat Joe is wack now... He was once Nice.... But thats before i had time to even acknowledge him......

Wrong again. The kids on 106 & Park freestyle friday are wack. Hell Rell is wack. Lil Kim is wack. Fat Joe is average.

I can keep giving examples, but NY rap music isn't black and white good or bad. There is an in between: which is where Juelz Santana, Foxy Brown, Jim Jones, and Tony Yayo reside. They show glimmers of potential, but aren't consistent.

I think those 2 are wack personally..... Juelz Santana was nice once upon a time he just got lazy and Foxy.... Broken Silence says different....

If you care to listen, I can show you proof that Yayo and Jimmy are not completely wack. Both of them are exellent when staying in their lane. Unfortunately, they don't do it enough. As far as Juelz and Foxy go, they have their on and off moments, which equals average... you don't have an argument with those two.
