DNA believed to belong to the podcast host, Daryl Campbell, 31, who is known as Taxstone, was found on the trigger, hand grip and magazine of the 9-millimeter Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun that was used in the shooting in the V.I.P. green room of a crowded Manhattan concert venue, a federal complaint says.

Mr. Campbell had the gun before the shooting, and videos show him coming into the green room before the gunfire and then fleeing, the complaint says. In front of him was the bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter. Behind Mr. Campbell was a person who is not named in the complaint, but who appears to be Troy Ave — whose real name is Roland Collins — based on earlier police accounts. Wounded in the legs, Mr. Collins was holding the Kel-Tec gun and firing it toward a fleeing Mr. Campbell

The complaint, sworn out by Detective Jose Flores of the New York Police Department, quotes a public threat, which it says Mr. Campbell made before the shooting, that he would open fire on Mr. Collins: “When I see you walking up with six dudes, bang-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.” Mr. Campbell repeatedly adds, “Try me"

The federal complaint says he spoke publicly of belonging to the Bloods gang.

Mr. Campbell’s lawyer, Kenneth Montgomery, said he could not discuss the case before learning more about the accusations.“He’s doing as best he can for anybody charged with a federal crime

These niggas never heard of gloves or clean off the burner before using it and cleaning it after.Fucking dumb asses.I bet he didn´t trow away his clothe either.Fucking idiot.

youre-an-idiot.gif

Shit happened in a club,

he would've looked suspect walking in with gloves on..

He lost the gun in the scuffle so there's no way he would've been able to wipe the prints off..

He fucked up in so many ways that he might just be an accidental murderer. He might catch the L´s of L´s.Lost his gun with prints on it all kinds of dumb shit.Nigga if he came in the club with a gun he should be able to walk in with some rubber gloves.Uhh ya never had any fathers uhh they did not teach ya how to do it right.

Troy got just as much of an L for keeping that shit.

The fuck you keeping random guns for 1) you just used in a crime 2) that you picked up from the other nigga in said crime. You don't know how many bodies could be on that shit.

They should make them niggas be cellmates.

Actually,

Troy and his homie got shot,

Troy wrestled the gun away and had to shoot his way out the club to drive to the hospital..

It's not like he was tryna keep the gun forever,

just long enough to get up out of there..

The gun was found a week later in his van. Shit should have been tossed on the way to the hospital, instead this nigga wanna keep souvenirs like he stole his chain.

A hip-hop podcast host known for his beef with rapper Troy Ave was linked to the gun used in a fatal shooting at Irving Plaza, according to a complaint filed against him on Tuesday.

Daryl Campbell, 31, also known as Taxstone, was tied to the gun that killed Ronald McPhatter, 33, and wounded Troy Ave and two bystanders in a backstage area of a T.I. concert on May 25, 2016, prosecutors said.

Campbell, who is known for his prolific and profane Twitter presence and his kingmaking — and feud stoking — podcast Tax Season, was arrested Monday and was set to be arraigned in Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday.

He is being charged with possession of a firearm by a felon — Campbell had previously been convicted of armed robbery — and receiving a firearm by interstate commerce after investigators tracked the handgun used in the shooting to a purchaser in Florida, who told police he had sold the gun to an associate of Campbell.

The handgun — a semiautomatic, 9-mm Kel-Tec pistol — was found on the night of the shooting in a hidden compartment in the van used to take Troy Ave to the hospital.

Investigators found traces of Campbell’s DNA on the base of the magazine, indicating that he had likely been the one to load it, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors used statements that Campbell made on his podcast, including times he repeatedly mocked Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins. In one, he doubted Troy Ave's willingness to open fire on a rival.

“I can protect myself as a man, so I’m not thinking about rolling with six goons,” prosecutors quoted Campbell in the statements made prior to the shooting.

“When I see you walking up with six dudes, bang-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba...I want to embarrass somebody, and that’s why I started bullying Troy Ave, you know what I mean?”

According to investigators, Campbell was seen on surveillance video entering the green room on May 25 prior to the incident and fleeing shortly after shots were fired, with a wounded Troy Ave in hot pursuit.

Footage released to the public shows McPhatter dashing out of the VIP room, followed by Troy Ave, hobbling with bloodstains blooming on his pants, who squeezed off at least one shot in the direction that investigators said Campbell had fled moments before.

Troy Ave was arrested the next day and charged with attempted murder and weapons possession. He is currently free on $500,000 bail.

He and his lawyers have repeatedly spoken of another shooter in the room and argued that Collins wrestled the gun away from somebody else and fired in self defense.

In a statement on Tuesday, his lawyer John Stella said the charges against Campbell will help illuminate what led to the violence that night.

“As we have said since May 25, 2016, Roland Collins (“Troy Ave”) did not enter Irving Plaza with a handgun the night of the TI concert,” he said.

“I view the charges brought today before the (federal court) as a positive step in the direction of true justice for what occurred at Irving Plaza that night.”

This unfortunate shooting got me to listen to tax season despite not liking the idea this nigga Tax may have fucked up hip hops future (as did troy) in NYC by firing a gun.

I say that to say this....be safe tho

I said that in the initial thread and some niggas said it was an overreaction

Weak case

Sold to an associate of Mr Campbell

DNA traces on base of magazine

Charged with possession, they going need more than that to take this anywhere

That's not even worth prosecuting

Early Monday morning (Jan. 16), podcast personality Taxstone, real name Daryl Campbell, was arrested by NYPD, U.S. Marshalls and New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force in East Brooklyn in connection to the May 2016 Irving Plaza shooting that left rapper Troy Ave injured and his bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter dead.

According to the federal complaint against Campbell, signed by U.S. District Attorney Hagan Scotten and sworn on by Detective Jose Flores, Tax is facing federal weapon possession charges, including one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of receipt of a firearm in interstate commerce. He was scheduled to be arraigned in New York City federal court today.

The seven-page complaint begins by mentioning how Tax was found guilty of attempted robbery in the second degree back in 2008, making him a felon prohibited from possessing a firearm. It goes on to mention how Campbell openly “proclaimed his membership to the Bloods” in certain public statements.

The complaint then references Troy Ave, though not by name, as somebody Tax antagonized in public by calling Troy “cowardly and unwilling to use violence” and accusing him of having a fake reputation for both “musical and criminal accomplishments.”

The report also references an audio recording made prior to the Irving Plaza shooting in which Tax “proclaimed his willingness to open fire if a group of men were to approach him.” At the end of the clip, he says Troy’s name. You can hear that clip above.

In addition, Detective Flores says he was able to identify the Florida man who brought the gun that was used in the Irving Plaza shooting, a 9mm Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun, to New York through pictures on social media: “I know from my review of social media, including photographs depicting the two together, among other evidence, that [the man who brought the gun to New York] is an associate of Daryl Campbell, a/k/a ‘Taxstone,’ the defendant.”

DNA evidence is later brought up, which the complaint finds “indicates that Campbell possessed the firearm before the shooting began.” Detective Flores goes on to conclude that “in addition to the presence of Campbell’s DNA on the trigger and handle (consistent with having fired the weapon), Campbell’s DNA was present on the base edges of the magazine, which is a location someone would not necessarily touch when briefly grabbing or even firing a handgun, but would more often touch when loading the firearm.”

The complaint also details how this same firearm is the one that killed McPhatter, as well as the same gun that Troy Ave is seen firing in surveillance footage. It’s also the gun that was found in Troy’s van after he was transported to the hospital. The handgun contained traces of McPhatter and Troy Ave’s DNA as well.

You're right and you must be from the NYC/Tristate. Cause i live in CT and get it like you. I don't think people in here outside the northeast get how it is out here.

New York post 9/11 ain't a game period. And that's what people still don't get after seeing what wayne went through. Not only is gun control strict but any crime in Manhattan in general outside of a minor infraction gets punished to the full force. You get caught with a water gun or soda that isn't registered to you then you are fucked. Crime drops and drops and has been since the mid 90's.

I should really go back in that original thread and e slap everybody but I'm lazy as fuck

I never once doubted troy and the beef between him and tax was a huge reason why. Tax tried to kill troy, shot his bodyguard, dropped the gun, troy picked it up and let it fly

Had everybody talking about troy in interviews talking about how he ruined it for shows in NY and he's stupid and blah blah blah. Nah I said it in the original thread:

Word.Niggas was calling Troy dumb like he just went wildman and shot his man by mistake.

I knew that shit ain't sound right.

I think Troy snuffed Tax and Tax either had the strap or somebody got the strap to him and then somehow he dropped it and Troy grabbed it.

I think Troy could get off relatively light considering he was the victim. He had a gun or guns in the whip though so IDK.

But for real though he may have been keeping it for protection at the moment.he didn't know who might be gunning for him.Shit popped off too fast.

I wonder how shat popped off. Granted, I heard what Tax said about 6 dudes walking up on me yada yada yada...But Tax just doesn't strike me as the dude coming in the club strapped, laying eyes on a group of rivals and just automatically letting off shots in a room full of people....I also just can't see said rivals hopping up coming at him on some rah rah shat, seeing Tax reach for the hammer and keep coming at Tax with the same amount of aggression...Bodyguard probably saw him reaching for it and tried to grab him up before he got to it, but just wasn't quick enough.....Damn I just hate to see folks lose they lives over wack shat and then see a talented brotha throw his life away on some macho shat. you might catch a arse whooping cause you out numbered, but you live to fight another day, Tax. Career was really starting to bubble, bruh.
