"And if a person strikes the eye of his slave and blinds him, he shall send him free on account of the eye. And if he causes the tooth of his slave to be knocked out, he shall send him free on account of the tooth." (Lev 21:26-27)
and the purchase of slaves outside of the israelites was not forceful. u could not buy someone who did not want to be bought. that would be OPPRESSION. and the point of buying the rest of their family was so that the family could remain together and not be separated, which has been done to slaves from africa who for the most part have a pretty tough time finding their ancestry because of it.
"You shall not give over a slave to his master if he escaped to you from his master. He shall remain in your midst, in the place that he chooses in one of your gates, as it suits him, you shall not oppress him." (Deut 23:16)
this is sayin if a SLAVE ESCAPES from his MASTER and u find him, u are NOT to RETURN that SLAVE to his MASTER, but let the SLAVE remain where HE CHOOSES, and YOU SHALL NOT OPPRESSS HIM. what does that mean? the only reason a slave would escape from his master is if his master is cruel or unfair, so he should not be forced to go back to such an owner as it is AGAINST God's law for an owner to act in such a way. otherwise, slavery must not be bad if people ARE NOT escaping from their master if they are allowed to do so in unfair/cruel circumstances.
now ur belief is as follows: if u believe God made everything, then He made slavery as well.
that couldnt be any more ignorant. God made man with free will to do as he chooses. Man chose to DISOBEY God, which = sin. With sin their is corruption, not perfection. In a world where sin is rampant God has to make rules so those who want to obey Him know how to follow Him, IF THEY SO CHOOSE. Now, the slavery God permitted was undeniably different than the slavery the Romans and Egyptians partook in. They killed slaves for any unsatisfactory act or just for the hell of it. GOD MADE LAWS AGAINST THIS, which im sure u can read as u implied u can. this does not mean IT DOES NOT/WILL NOT EXIST. now for those of faith who DO believe in God and ARE enslaved with oppression, the new testament has verses for oppressed slaves to remember their worth no matter the circumstances.
1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."
Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."
Colossians 3:11 "Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all."
the old testament laws improved slave conditions, but only the israelites followed these rules. the new testament, acknowledging that slavery of oppression still exists, reminds those that no matter who they are, where they come from, whether they are free or enslaved, they still may enter heaven if they follow God with their heart.
Ephesians 6:5-9: "Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him."
Colossians 4:1: "Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven."
CONCLUSION: THE BIBLE PROTECTS SLAVES
"If I have despised the just cause of my slave and my maidservant when they strove against me, then what shall I do when El rises up, and when He remembers, what shall I answer Him? Did He who created me in the belly not create him, and was it not the same One who fashioned us in the womb?" (Job 31:13-15)

EDIT: oh yeah forgot to point out the part in the bible where slaves can request to remain enslaved by their master if/when the master finds them free of debt if they find that they are better off, more stable or happier with them than without. i wonder if any black slaves would have made this request?? LOL.
