You do realize that I never said anything to the effect of "My atheism is exactly in line with how atheism is described by the Humanist Manifesto" right?

And you'll notice that nowhere in that document does it say that they consider atheism to be a religion. Instead, they consider humanism to be an atheistic religion. It's interesting, but they have to really stretch the meaning of the word "religion" in order to make this work. They're not describing or prescribing any rituals or dogma for members of the group to follow.

And yes, it does take a form of faith for me to have hope in humanity. But it is not faith in myth, magic, a wizard in the sky, or any of the hilarious things you believe in. Instead, it is a faith in our ability to survive and prosper based on evidence from our history. We've come a long way from the dark ages, where you religious people dominated everything and had the legal authority to force your morals upon others and even put scientists in prison for poking holes in your cosmology.

You're so desperate to classify atheism as a form of faith so that you can say it is on par with faith in gods. And every time the obvious flaw in this thinking is pointed out, you Google harder and try to come up with new red herrings.

It is sad.

Maybe we value freedom more than you do.

All in that you said nothing. It didn't stretch anything. Humanism...atheism. It's all in the same boat. You can't have it which way you want.

I hope you aren't trying to say you don't follow or agree with ANY iota of those views in that then you are basically in denial.

atheism simply means you dont have a belief in god no more no less it isnt a religion
it its a moral code
Sorry.
Read about the 1st humanist manifesto written down in the 1930's, which even claimed every human being is religious.

Atheism is a religion, you believe that there is no God. Don't think because the 2nd secular humanist manifesto changed the meaning still stands from the 1st manifesto, which still stands correct. The atheists wanted to get religion out of the schools they changed it up due to that.

Word, basic logic here.

All humans may be primates, but that doesn't mean all primates are humans.

Disciplined Insight is either being intellectually dishonest or he's in denial.

I think one of the big problems with religion is that it encourages people to NOT learn about how to form or recognize coherent arguments, since that type of thinking might lead to apostasy.

none of you niggas would be athiests if you lived in a hut in a jungle

its easy to not believe in god when you can walk to the store and buy food, let some of you niggas try to live off the land, i bet you start worshipping then

The Pirahãs would disagree with you.

Horrible argument.

There is no brainwashing. You need to look up the history of the Humanist Manifesto and stop being in denial. It is not up to MY beliefs, it was already created.

You're the one in denial. Unfortunately you don't want to accept what the origins of your beliefs.

Pics/links.

nah it was all words bro.....IDk.....

Spiritual belief is universal, but athiesm is mainly present in modernized countries where people experience anomie and dont feel they actually need god anymore, due to progress(they dont think that consciously but their lifestyle, compared to a more primitive one, grants them the privilege)

I would totally concede my argument against darwinian evolution if one person could provide even a shred of evidence from the fossil record of a transition of any creature from one class to another:

Class being birds, fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and arthropods.

Why is that so hard to do???

Ask yourself.......

Why won't any of the bold azz posters in this thread respond to this post???

Peace
