SMH @ these clowns trying to rewrite history, like LL didn't set the blueprint for most of these new school legends like Pac, Jay, Big etc.

... Like LL wouldn't do a joint for the ladies and turn around and do a street joint just to show dudes he was still on top commercially and lyrically.

...Like LL didn't hold his own against king lyricists like Canibus and KMD, while Jay falls short in every rap battle he enters (besides Prodigy).

Y'all probably think rap started with Big and Pac, huh?

Let's sum it up real quick. LL influenced dudes like Black Thought, Em, Nas and them, while Jay influenced Wayne, TI, Drake and them.... LL arguably beat Bis, KMD (to some), while Jay lost to Nas, DMX, Cam etc.

LL has multiple classics, while Jay has none (even though Vol1 is crazy dope).

Conclusion: LL wins in all 3 categories.

Doing something FIRST doesnt make you better than anybody else. There isnt an LL record that comes CLOSE to RD, Blueprint, The Black Album. LMAO @ Jay losing to Nas or DMX....when the exact same argument can be used against LL with Bis.

LL ate Canibus, Ice T, MC Hammer, & Moe Dee. The only real questionable one was KMD. Canibus stands & Jigga warriors hold on to them losses and will argue a nigga to death saying they won but its pretty obvious them niggas lost. Losing aint a big deal either. Nas & LL are elite MCs.

LL had 3 classics before Jay even had a deal. He had took over the game, Russell and nem built Def Jam off his talent. The nigga fell off and bounced back before Jay was even on.

Radio, Bigger & Deffer, as well as Mama Said are undeniable classics.

As a matter of fact LL lines are still being used for nigga's hooks today "What the hell are you lookin for?

Can't a young man make money anymore?" (Illegal Search) but of course niggas think Ye stole that from Mase or some shit.

Based off popularity I expect Jay-Z to win any opinion poll but the facts are most of LL's major accomplishments were before Biggie, Pac, Jay or Nas even hit the scene.

Like I said Jay gets the bar for bar W, but overall I gotta give it to Uncle L.

It's about consensus, not your personal taste in music clown. I don't fuck with half of hip-hop classics period, but doesn't make them not classics. It just means I have different taste than others.

LL's has 3 classics, Jay has none. Y'all naming shit like RD when nobody fucked with the album when it came out. The Black Album was a gimmick, and Blueprint had beats but his lyrics weren't up to par.

Uh, no it's not. Undeniable? Really? Now it's clear who's doing the trolling.

so classics can only exist if they sell. ok.

Uh pretty much. They have to make an impact bruh. That's one of the MAIN requirements for a classic.

But what determines a classic? a classic is something that stands the test of time. when something instantly drops it can't be regarded as a classic bc the actual definition doesn't hold up. RD being considered a classic now makes more sense than when it dropped in 96.

Yeah you're done...LOL @ Mama Said Knock you out being a classic.

This is essentially the biggest solo star of the 80s vs arguably the biggest (surviving) solo star of the 90s.

It all depends on what you prefer. I think L's versatility and longevity pushes him into another stratosphere in the game. He been dropping regularly on a major label from 1985-2008! The nigga last solo album was just 4 years ago.

The dude career is a lifespan and I don't think he's officially retired yet.

I'm a huge Jay-Z fan, on my list of MCs he's #2 (behind Nas) and when it comes to verses, and (current) cultural relevance Hov wins hands down. Problem is LL has a better discog and more classic albums. Jay has bigger hits and probably sold more records.

I aint mad at anyone picking Jay but my choice is LL.

Lol @ you calling out singles to justify an album as classic when I never did. You're such a unacknowledged pussy...and you're not a true fan because the dumb shit you posted is just to incite emotion from true fans.

I don't have to try hard because your trolling knows no boundaries. It's throughout the Hip Hop consensus that those 3 albums are undeniable classics.

Radio was LL's kick in the door debut and kick started Def Jam the label and made Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons household names. One of the first popular mainstream Hip Hop albums.

Bigger And Deffer was just what the title aimed at...being better than his debut and created the 1st commercially successful "rap ballad" blueprint in Hip Hop ("I Need Love").

Mama Said Knock You Out was his "comeback" album after the lackluster Walk With A Panther and the title was even played with a live band (which was unheard of at the time.)

Other popular singles from that album: "6 Minutes Of Pleasure", "To Da Break Of Dawn", and "Murdergram".

I don't care if it was a "comeback" album MUSICALLY it's not a classic

In hip hop when you talk about classics people mention death certificate, ready to die,Midnight Marauders,Atliens,Blueprint,Life After Death,It's dark and hell is hot,Late registration for the impact the albums had musically

You're mentioning bullshit like radio being def jams 1st album so that automatically makes it a Classic album? Nah you're grasping for straws cuz you got sonned
