I see where you coming from but I won't say no "tangible connection" I'll say that they have selective love and history of Africa.

Nothing upsets me more than niggas who glorify Africa as if it's perfect or was perfect. Especially when they take on a judgmental tone about the subject.

However I think we all should have some connection with the homeland: emotional, intellectual, philosophically something you know?

Problems come in when niggas wanna be African but don't wanna BE African...feel me? They wanna wear the clothes, learn the history, claim the glory but they wanna be selective with all that (certain people, certain points at time etc). It makes niggas seem more like leeches than anything and that is no better than what white folks do.

black is a blanket term and includes all african people therefore it is a better name in my book. in the word black you can wrap up history, culture, genetics and geography. there is black africa, black culture, black history and black features.

african american is just a name given to one black ethnic group it allows you to keep your connection to the rest of the black world but still be yourself. i have been in africa and africans have no problem with african disporian blacks it's only when they get leave africa and see how some of you ignorant niggas act do they start forming negative opinions.

so you didn't have any negative preconceived notions yourself? and how exactly do they treat their women?

I didn't. I actually had a positive view of Africans and African culture as a kid. It wasn't until I went overseas and heard all the bullshit that they would say about American blacks that I changed my tune. I've been to South Africa and Djibouti and heard the same stuff in both places. Black Americans are lazy, spoiled and stupid etc. Heard the same thing from some Ethiopian chicks in Dubai.

So I was like oh word? Yeah there are some lazy fucks in America but that's not all of us or even most of us for that matter.

As far as the way they treat women, they treat them like they're beneath the man and they have that 'do as they say' type attitude . I don't like that shit.
