I remember when it dropped. They used to have commercials on Hot 97 and the slogan was, "Joe Budden is the streets first round draft pick". Then he flopped hard.

the expectations for joe at the time were pretty high.

and the album came out under the shadow of Get Rich or Die Tryin, which hadn't even reached full stride yet.

Yeah I don't know about the rest of the country but they were playing Pump It Up every half hour and playing commercials saying that, "Joe Budden is the streets first round draft pick". They hyped that album up to be like Get Rich or Die Trying. We were expecting the next 50 Cent. At least thats how it was in NYC.

Edit. Thats why I always clown him for being washed up. Maybe it was different in the other 49 states but in New York they hyped him up and he didn't live up to the hype.

Yeah that "_______ first round draft pick" shit was some NY shit. Around my circle Joe only really became known because he had the Focus instrumental on the Def Jam game. And that was after "Pump It Up". But that shit led to him being listened to.

shit was fire,

10minutes still gets play

real life and rap is still relevant

come and take a walk with me was a nice joint,

calm down was crazy too....

i loved that album
