"nigga" is far too deep into our culture to expect it to just up and go away. it's ours and we're stuck with it. i use it profoundly and pridefully. the word is a part of my life for better and worst. i can't say that about the flag. never in my life time seen a louisiana nigga wearing it.

Whoever brought this up is either genuinely curious or just trying to stir up shit that's about 10+ years old. True educated representers of the South (black and white), like Lil Jon, Pastor Troy, Andre 3000, Luda, David Banner, Bubba Sparxxx, Haystak, and a gang of other Southern rappers, embraced this flag as part of the New South movement. As a white man from Birmingham, Alabama, I would never sport a confederate flag simply because I'm aware that most older black people are not aware of the New South movement and might, understandably, be offended. Unfortunately, especially in these financially troubling times in an area that wasn't doing good before the "recession", there's a lot of folks walking around with chips on their shoulder, looking for a target to take out their misdirectted hostilities. For most people that were sportin these flags (most of the time in different colors like red, green, & black, for example) were just goin with a fad because Lil Jon, Luda, Banner, PT Cruiser, etc. were on top at that time. You still see some representin, here in Birmingham, black & white, with confederate flags. And I guarantee, 9 outta 10 of 'em, you would not step to and have shit to say face to face.

I'm from Ga so of course I've seen these flags all my life.When I was growing up I always assumed the white people sporting them were racist.They argue it's not hate it's heritage.And for them it's not necessarily hate but for their ancestors it was.I don't hate the people who wear them although I don't like it trying to fight it will just usher in people thinking you're restricting their freedom.And they'll think they're bad asses for hanging a flag.I don't care anymore.

THAT was the honest and intelligent answer I needed to hear as far as the "nigga" vs. confederate flag debate. Nobody's perfect and nobody should really want to be.
