That whole Pope scene was wack to me...why wasnt that bodyguard watching Jax? Isnt that his fucking job? No way he keeps his eyes off Jax until the rest of his crew gets back...

Tig wasnt held accountable, regardless of Pope having Opie killed, even though that wasnt was supposed to happen, all this shit happened because of Tig, he struck first and yet he comes out of the whole thing unscathed?

I just dont like how Jax's plans ALWAYS work out..and how is it in shootouts, none of the Sons are ever really hit? But them niggas come in blazin hittin kill shots dead on..

Them niggas win too much, sometimes it can be a lil unrealistic..even Stringer Bell got popped..its time for some of these dudes to get hurt

Prior to the season finale SOA was starting to become my 2nd favorite show behind The Wire, but afterwards i think Breaking Bad got that!

Overall good season...average finale

Yeah, Sons had the better season...but Boardwalk had the better finale.

'Don't know what it is, but the producers/writers for Sons seem to be copping out on the finales for the past 2 years.

Last year with the DA's storyline..then all of a sudden the Cartel turn out to be Feds (with all the dirt they've done)...and the whole buildup to the DA's plan for SAMCRO just suddenly goes away.

Like, "ok...everybody go home...nothing to see here."

This year with Pope.

Dude's game has been tight all season long...but he somehow gets caught slipping in the last episode of the season...without his right hand who is always with him.

Basically, it just seems like the writers have been writing themselves into a corner and can't seem to figure out how to wrap things up in the finales in a way that's consistent with how the rest of the season has been going.

That shit bugged more than Pope this year. Like wtf was this season just about. But as far as Pope goes it was sloppy writing and rushed. But to me it wasn't surprising that they killed him. They basically kill off there enemies every year. Maybe he wasn't cautious b/c he put his trust in Jax and was caught up in killing Tiq. Emotions about revenge for his daughter. Pope was always cool unless it was about when asked Jax about delivering Tiq. I mean just this year the episode when they tried to kill Jax. When him Bobby, and Chibbs were on their bikes The truck drove up point blank range and missed all three of them Or how bout a gun fight and high speed chase in broad daylight. Then a crash and standoff with guns outside and not one police officer ever showing up. Not saying it's right or wrong just saying it's part of tv at times. That scene did feel forced so the season could be wrapped up nicely.

The bold is what especially makes it bad writing. For one, they reiterated like three or four times in the episode that Pope doesn't trust anyone, so why would he trust Jax, someone with more than one reason to want to see Pope dead. Second, Pope didn't even want Tig dead. Remember he wanted Tig locked so he could suffer for the rest of his life. Then without reason he's caught up in some unexplained zeal to see Tig dead even though he was the one was able to put his need for revenge to the side to enact a greater plan. That just doesn't make sense. Lastly, why would he even need to depend on Jax to get Tig killed in the first place. Someone as smart as Pope would have let Jax go on thinking everything was cool after everyone left jail, and then just had Tig killed at a later point when the desire moved him.

I don't agree with this. You seem to have forgotten that Pope burned Tig's daughter right in front of him. Let's be real, that is way worse than what Tig did. Tig didn't intentionally kill Pope's daughter, she was collateral damage. Tig didn't make Pope watch his daughter die. And Tig didn't torture Pope's daughter. So really Pope was already up on Tig. There was really no need to be so obsessed with killing him. In fact, leaving him alive to know that his club was basically indebted to and in bed with the man that tortured and killed your daughter was far more ether than killing him anyway.

And if we're going to be real about this. The conflict with Pope was as much Jax's fault as it was Tig's. Sure Tig was the hot head thatmade the bad move, but Jax was the guy that made up a lie about Clay getting shot by a black guy right after they had a less than favorable run in with a bunch of black guys.

I agree. Like them niggas wrong and still want to be right. Pope getting killed so easy just made the show fall out of my top 5. I mean this nigga didn't become th e most "dangerous gangster" in Ockland by making dumb mistakes like this.

I got to agree here. That was some terrible writing in the midst of a season that was written so well. Seriously, you build this guy up as being super smart, super cautious, and super capable through the whole season and then at the end have him making a bunch of silly mistakes that get him killed.

Man i see what youre sayin but cant ride with it...was Pope's tactics worse, yea, but that nigga killed his daughter first..Jax lying about who shot Clay would be an issue if they all rode out to get revenge but Tig went on a one man rampage, thats on him!!! You dont have to watch your child die to have a dead child..again i see what youre sayin just still think Tig shouldve gotten more..

Even though I knew Katey Sagal "Gemma" was married to the show runner Kurt Sutter, I've never seen what he looks like... so I was surprised to see that he and Otto are the same person.

I'm not saying Tig isn't to blame, but putting it all on him is unfair. Clay was the one that put all the bullshit in motion. Opie was the one that tried to take matters into his own hand instead of letting things get handled through the club. Jax was the one that tried to protect Opie by making up a lie that clearly could have caused problems. They all bare some blame. Tig accidentally killed Pope's daughter by being two rash. As a result he was forced to watch his daughter burn to death. Seriously, I'm not sure why you feel he deserves more punishment. That's an eye for an eye. Pope's daughter was dating a gang banger and died relatively quickly. Tig's daughter was not involved with that life in any way and died horribly. They were even.

I think the whole Pope assassination was handled a little poorly. Way too many things had to go right for that to go down the way it did. It would have been more believable if Partlow was in on it. This is the first time I've seen the 2nd not being there with Pope, and its THIS moment he isnt there??

Let's not forget the first guy that Jax killed in the trailer. What was his purpose. He was staked out by the door, I'm guessing to keep an eye on the entrance yet he had his back to it the whole time. That was just dumb. Come on man. When the number 2 put all those lines together and all Jax could say was "I'm not Pope I'm just a mechanic" dude should have put a hit out on Jax right then and there.

Problem is "ambition" has taken hold. When Jax said to him "Looking forward to doing business with you Mr.Marks" dude started seeing the $$$ signs. He has control of Pope's holdings, has the killer gift wrapped, and is now MR. MARKS . I am sure there is a slight itch in the back of his head about all of it, but is it enough for him to start scratching it? We'll see about it next season.

I think that Fed is going to be a problem, Harvard Grad, Special Forces, highly decorated Fed Marshall, plus a hard ass cracker? Yeah that dude is going to be a problem next season.

Wasnt Popes daughter his wife?

Pope's daughter was going out with the leader of the Niners who he eventually had killed.

lol @ everyone who didn't see the Tig/Pope/jax encounter coming and didn't think jax was playing pope

I don't think there was anyone who didn't see it coming. People were predicting it would happen weeks ago. No one's complaining about it happening. We're saying the execution was poor.

nah. people kept saying that Jax wasn't playing pope like that. i'll try to find the quotes when i get to work

but on that note, this show has provided some dope ass music. I really dig that blues version of John The Revelator. Season 1 and 2 had the GOAT tv show music.

a good finale. interesting to see how everything played out at the end. kinda like the whole Stahl ordeal but not quite as badass, I think Sutter tried to do the same thing here and it just seeemed forced. But still good. Probably my least favorite season, party because the whole Clay/Juice bromance was WAAAAAAYYYYY too much. Oh he's got him doin the dishes -anything for some kisses...Is he in love with a reaper? And Clay's whole downfall was so anti-climatic.

A need for vengeance has been a key component in this season. Vengeance blinded Pope, and thats how he got caught slippin.

That would be cool if it wasn't already built into his character that he wouldn't sacrifice making smart decisions for revenge. Remember he killed ole boy for going for vengeance instead of doing the smart thing. And he executed a plan for vengeance instead of the wiping the Sons out from the get go.

Again, he didn't even want Tig dead. He wanted Tig locked in prison to suffer for the rest of his life. So turning around and having Pope throw away all his good sense because he was so anxious to kill Tig was just bad writing.

I def see what you mean monk. It didn't bother me they killed him, but it did just seem too easy. It would have made way more sense if his number 2 was in on it or something. I know it went against Pope's character to let his emotions get th best of him but i really do believe his lust for vengeance was supposed be his downfall
