I agree with the balance. I can respect a man who has preferences, but I believe there has to be a balance. Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane balances out the music we get from their complete 180 opposites, like Common and Mos Def.

I work at a local independent Hip Hop label over here, and not that they're conscious, but they are totally against working with superficial rap artists. Nothing wrong with that, but when we get into conversations about music, like if they hear me bumping Dougie when I pull up, they get all over me. I try to tell them that Mos Def and Nas are cool, I love them niggas, but Soulja Boy and New Boyz are there for balance, for a different element. I think that's respectable.

Now, when niggas start talking about them being the GOAT, then its a problem. But just because someone can't rap on the level of a Rakim or Method Man, doesn't mean they aren't worthy of making good music.
