Really how far off is the zombie theory?

I am pretty sure you can get some type of virus that has your skin rot

And since it's rotting, your bodies requires nutrition and other valuable proteins that can be found in other humans

Hence zombie eating people. I Am Legend proposed a semi real zombie effect

Think about it, we might laugh, but look how crack changed people, deformed their bodies, warped their minds...

And everybody jokes how you can't catch a crack head

So really is the possibility that far off to have zombies? They might not be dead, dead...but don't we label crackheads as walking dead?
