Alot of erroneous statments

People still dont understand the meaning behind "Thug-Life"....go do the research.

Did 'Pac grow up around Crips & Bloods
..from 16-17 he lived in the "Jungle" in Marin City, California with Ray Luv...housing projects, gang infested, and he was tight with Ryan D. from 51.50, known bloods. He was rolling with Big Syke an O.G. Crip when he was 20. Questioning his "gangsta" is foolish.

LOL, when you grew up around Black Panthers like Geronimo Pratt, Revolutionaries like Mutulu Shakur, and your Godmother is Assatta Shakur..you don't need any low-level gangbangers to vouch for your pedigree and "gangsta".

2Pac was far from a "fake-thug" he reinvented the word "thug" based on his lifestyle and belief's and became the new definition of a "thug". Wanna-bee's dont shoot cops they run from cops. Wanna-bee's get their chains snatched and dont fight back.

Was he affiliated with crips & bloods of course thats the West-Coast.

How many "gangsta's" in rap music can you name that bust their guns and know who to bust their guns at???

Dope shite...

I dont respect the opinion of anybody with MIDRIFF in their vocabulary in reference to anything Hip-Hop related.

That said, Tupac was more than his lyrics and if all you know about Pac's talent is a few "violent" lyrics from a few songs you heard then you dont know shit anyway.

I never approved of the media's perception of Tupac. He was more than the thug they wanted him to be. Thug Life was an acronym, and should be interpreted as such. Tupac used lots of acronyms (like N.I.G.G.A, for example). He explained his use of the word bitch in songs like "Wonder Why They Call You Bitch." People need to stop leaning on the media so much to think for them and start listening to his music.

As far as his thug image goes, it's not something that he particularly cared for. A lot of the information in this thread is erroneous and discussion should cease until you view these:

Notice his response to the "gangster rapper" question. Anyway, his music is real, he was not imitating Juice like most people say. Some of the stuff in his records are similar to his various verses from Digital Underground. He didn't "transform" into a thug, he always went against the grain, he was always honest about social atrocities and discrimination and racism against blacks and used the hood as an example of that content.

Pac gets no pass for being a thug, he didn't popularize that image, the MEDIA did. Stop giving the media so much attention and listen to the music for the correct interpretation of the artist.

LOL. This was a really good thread. Much respect to those that actually read the opening post...and much MORE respect to those who actually clicked the link and read the entire article.

I seem to outdo myself with each thread I make, I seriously wonder how I'm gonna top it with the next one...

Yeah, your threads last long without being stupid shock threads or argument zones, which is rare here.

I personally dont think Pac was a wanna be thug... because if u compare Pac to a Rick Ross... The fakeness doesnt even compare... Pac told u he went to an Arts school in B More... Pac told u he was a Momma's Boy, Pac explained all of this himself... And also Pac said on many occasions he doesn't always rap from his perceptive he raps from the perceptive of his peers... And T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E. Stood for something else (don't know the acronym).... And any Young, Aggressive, Angry and Black male is called a thug from white ppl.. Thats like the little kids in school that act out so they want to put them on medicine and dont realize what that child goes through at home.... It's their way of dealing with us as ppl

Realest post in the thread. These are actual facts. He wasn't a "thug", "hard" or living the "thug life" before he became a cottdamn rapper. Before that he dressed differently, lived walked and spoke differently. He was never a thug, he was a wannebe sell-out who acted a fool in public so that his peers would respect him and THINK he was something he wasn't. Pft. The only reason people talk about him is because 1) he's dead, and 2 he was outspoken on things we all should have known about, things he probably never even felt until he sold himself to hip-hop anyway. Fakeass Malcolm X....and to even compare or act like he was an activist,a phenomenon to the black community is insulting to the actual black activists who really do matter to the community.

Some of the posts in this thread are shocking to say the least...PaC wuz the closest thing we had to Malcolm X...Like it or not PaC's name is synonymous with Hiphop & should be a celebrated figure in black history.PaC iz the GOAT in many peoples eyes..it is what it is.Though music is subjective & everyone is entitled to hav an opinion Nas,Pac will always be better thn Jay,Big cuz they Lyrics are Political & socially conscious, contain uplifting messages & their music is/wuz infused wit teachins of Great Black Leaders like Malcolm & Garvey......

And this is the rapper whom we celebrate? We have got to do better. When did it become acceptable to glorify people who are ARTIFICIAL?

Are we, as hip-hop fans, really THAT desperate to have someone represent us that we just jump on the bandwagon of any 'ol hot commodity? How bamboozled are we?

This is sheer savagery.

Im disgusted at the some of these posts.

Tupac died at the age of 25...lets put that into perspective.

If Malcolm X had died at 25 he would have been known as a petty-hustler & a thief.
If Martin Luther King had died at 25 he would have been another random Baptist minister.

JayZ dropped his debut "Reasonable Doubt" at the age of 25...Tupac had 5 complete studio albums before his 25th birthday.

Michael Jackson would have died at 25 he wouldnt have released "Thriller" (1982)
Michael Jordan would have died at 25 he would have never won a championship. (1991)

Tupac did more in his lifetime before the age of 25 than 99% of the people this world acknowledges as superstars and leaders.

Name another artist/activist that left an impact as strong as Tupac Amuru Shakur in a 25 year lifespan.
