He was rolling with Big Syke an O.G. Crip when he was 20. Questioning his "gangsta" is foolish.

LOL, when you grew up around Black Panthers like Geronimo Pratt, Revolutionaries like Mutulu Shakur, and your Godmother is Assatta Shakur..you don't need any low-level gangbangers to vouch for your pedigree and "gangsta".

2Pac was far from a "fake-thug" he reinvented the word "thug" based on his lifestyle and belief's and became the new definition of a "thug". Wanna-bee's dont shoot cops they run from cops. Wanna-bee's get their chains snatched and dont fight back.

I never approved of the media's perception of Tupac. He was more than the thug they wanted him to be. Thug Life was an acronym, and should be interpreted as such. Tupac used lots of acronyms (like N.I.G.G.A, for example). He explained his use of the word bitch in songs like "Wonder Why They Call You Bitch." People need to stop leaning on the media so much to think for them and start listening to his music.

As far as his thug image goes, it's not something that he particularly cared for. A lot of the information in this thread is erroneous and discussion should cease until you view these:

Notice his response to the "gangster rapper" question. Anyway, his music is real, he was not imitating Juice like most people say. Some of the stuff in his records are similar to his various verses from Digital Underground. He didn't "transform" into a thug, he always went against the grain, he was always honest about social atrocities and discrimination and racism against blacks and used the hood as an example of that content.

Pac gets no pass for being a thug, he didn't popularize that image, the MEDIA did. Stop giving the media so much attention and listen to the music for the correct interpretation of the artist.
