So Pac is not someone who should be celebrated?

Someone put this into perspective better then I ever could but somes up my opinion also.

There are artists that define their times. Artists whose music transcends the limitations of its genre, its perceptions, and even criticism. The Beatles are an example. Many of their songs aren’t that great, terrible even, but they connected with an entire generation. And they wrote songs at a time when artists just did not write their own material. Their cultural significance greatly outweighs their music. Elvis, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Creedence, Joni Mitchell, Led Zepplin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Prince, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Nirvana. All these people, as talented as they are, are known more for the influence of their music than for the music itself.

Only one rapper, one hip-hop artist, deserves to be on that list.

2pac

2pac should be celebrates he's a legend and one of the greats. He the best songwriter in rap history and could storytell and very introspective. He's not the best emcee but he's the best rap artist. Only got one classic though....

It is what it is. With overwhelming love comes hate. Pac is probably the most loved/ "worshiped" rapper ever to do it. He been dead damn near 14yrs and you still hear about him to this day, you still can't have a "who's greatest ever" convo without people arguing Pac's case, you can't diss him without people getting at you. He's the single rapper in my opinion that can be considered with the other "faces of their genre" type artists-Elvis(Rock), M. Jackson(Pop), Michael Jordan(Ball), Bob Marley(Reggae)..ETC ETC. You don't have to know his name but you recognize his face, you don't have to know his face but you know his name. Whether or not people like it or agree with it Pac is that dude. No-one knows what would've happened had he lived but what I do know is that his death solidified his legend & nothing or no-one can change that. Peace

Every artistic notion Pac produced that was uplifting to black society should be celebrated. He was also a young man, he made mistakes. He was stuck on thuggism, and made half-hearted attempts to justify it. He was still learning.

I personally dont think Pac was a wanna be thug... because if u compare Pac to a Rick Ross... The fakeness doesnt even compare... Pac told u he went to an Arts school in B More... Pac told u he was a Momma's Boy, Pac explained all of this himself... And also Pac said on many occasions he doesn't always rap from his perceptive he raps from the perceptive of his peers... And T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E. Stood for something else (don't know the acronym).... And any Young, Aggressive, Angry and Black male is called a thug from white ppl.. Thats like the little kids in school that act out so they want to put them on medicine and dont realize what that child goes through at home.... It's their way of dealing with us as ppl

This shock post is so full of stupidity I don't know where to start.

Thug Life stands for THE HATRED U GIVE LITTLE INFANTS FUCKS EVERYONE.

Pac was a mommas boy. Alot of the coldest cats ive ever met were from single family homes and were mommas boys, and going to a performing arts school means nothing. Alot of kids that go to those schools live in the hood and sell dope outside the classroom.

Bottom line your understanding on pacs significance proves this thread goes over your head.

Also punisher produces another classic thought provoking thread.

Honestly, 2pac's glorification = revisionist history at its finest. It's like how roberto clemente's death transformed him from a star (but by no means GOAT) player for his time to a timeless legend.

2PAC was the biggest rapper at the time of his death!!! I dont get why people always deny this fact like " He died then became popular etc etc " he was a STAR at the time of his death , he was doing movies and not just hood movies etc.

I find it funny that as well as being this " gangster " image he had to use while on death row ( lets be honest otherwise he would have been eaten alive by those bloods and crips working there ) he had plans to do bigger things for the black/poor community etc, he was talking about poor people whatever colour they are. he was fuck the government fuck cops and fuck people like C dolores Tucker etc and this was before rappers decided to stop being for the people and just flashing their money and bitches in videos using the same video "hoes" and i know that their are rappers who do anti government songs etc but they are on the "underground" mainly when they should be big like Public Enemy were back in the day.

But then again you get the black haters who dont like him for some reason because they would rather get jiggy and drink cristal and fuck loads of women and life is good for them, i wonder if alot of them actualy remember the impact Pac had at the time or are they comparing his music to todays standards. Also Elvis, Bruce Lee, Bob marley were all on their ways to being legends from the body of work they did but when they died people stopped to realise how great these people were, same as Pac Biggie and Pun dont hate something just because you cant remember it or was not born yet.

You are fucking dumb...

See but i thank you for this post.. because many put 2pac in this box.. unfortunately media and fans alike.. the media.. hated pac.. and certain fans lionized him for the wrong reasons.. and really didnt listen to his music.. just hear it.. but if you listen to his music you would know

He was a multifaceted dude.. he was a mixed bag of rage/hope/hate/love/promise/vision/anger he was 25 when he died.. you could hear his vision in his music and his interviews.. I remember him for his passion and his thrist for the better.. he was conflicted like many humans are he wasnt just one way and wasnt afraid to be him.. he didnt hide his sensitivity or his rage....

Exactly. He was conflicted and very bold at the same time. That mixture leads to positive productivity at some times, and foolishness at other times.

I think the threadstarter just found out who tupac is. he made a thread about Pac being a lyricist like a week ago.

I love the Pac threads but can you come up with something interesting that hasn't been discussed on here like 2 million times.
