I swear BR I have never since I've been able to buy my own clothes have bought or worn chancletas yo. One year my parents came back from Guatemala and handed me some leather ones and I left that day empty handed when I went back home. I'll put it like this I once wore gym shoes with regular clothes and my father said damn you look different without boots on.

Up north this is a common occurrence. I'm from NY so I too have been guilty of this but mostly the low cut "field Timbs" as they are referred to & not the 6 inch joints that are the most popular.
