Some classics need time to tell (Supreme Clientele, The Documentary, Atliens, Wu 4ever, IWW) and then you have those rare ones that are instant (Illmatic, OBCL, Ready to Die, Infamous, Reasonable Doubt, Chronic). This album joins the latter in my opinion. Even though I'd heard most of the tracks since I lack self-control, I did my part and copped the album.
The cohesion, lyrics, content, chemistry, balance, beats and epic feel is what makes it an instant classic. Nas is GOAT so he almost always on point, extends his 'untitled' message to the world view but Damian really shines, holds his own and complements Nas really well. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the My Generation hook, other than that, everyone comes correct. Africa must wake up, Tribal wars, Patience and Strong will continue are my joints.
Nas is a rare artist, really separating himself from the rest right now; the haters will hate but the real already know what it is.
