"Off That" is easily the worst Jay/Timbaland track to date. I agree that it's surprising that Jay, Timbaland, Drake came up with that. I thought "Reminder" was cool and "Venus vs. Mars" was dope even though I think that "Venus vs. Mars" is a vintage Timbo track that would've been perfect for Missy. I still think the chemistry between Jay and Tim is still there, but I think the lackluster Tim tracks have more to do w/ the "Blueprint" series than their chemistry. The worst of the Jay/Tim tracks have all been from the Blueprint albums.

Co-Sign, "Hova-Holito" was like "WTF?" and the beats he did on "BP2" weren't that great, KanYe and Just Blazed outshined Timbo on the 1st two "BP's". Now on "BP3", none of the 3 beats did it for me. Which is crazy that in my view Jay and Timbo were 0-6 in the "BP" series. Timbaland did a way better job on Vol. 2 and 3 and people hate on both of those albums as well as producing "Dirt of your shoulders". Thankfully as I said, "Ghetto Techo" didn't make the album cause that would been a horrible 0-4 on BP3.

Also it's awards and success didn't sway my opinion either way. It's in the bottom half of Jay's career to me. If anything I feel this success is the fans letting Jay know he is appreciated for a great career. The suits also feel the same as the grammy's choice to make this album make history with 6 grammy awards. It amazes me that this was the album chosen in Jay's catalog weither we like it or not, it made History.

That Ghetto Techno song would fit perfectly with the Euro-Jay approach. That was his aim anyways..lol

But I agree with you..horrible song.

I could care less if some suits in a boardroom heap accolades on BP3. the production lacked SOUL and Jigga didnt sound hungry.

Euro-Jay made safe album to please the Euro crowd.

Pretty much....

It is hard to be hungry in his position though.. Says he makes music still for the love of it.. But some people just can't relate to him anymore.

^Crab in a bucket post.

You wish Jay was still on the block in Brooklyn rockin a Hawaiian colored dashiki and a kufi.

But he's outgrown you people.

And he's better for it.

Nas Lost.

Yea but he had to use a movie to get back to that content on "American Gangster" and even then some criticized him for "being 40 with more drug tales". Then he tries to grow up with "Kindgom Come" and "BP3" and people call both of those album weak. It's a lose/lose for Jay, he can't make fans happy cause they want 1,000 Reasonable Doubts. NaS is in the same situation, fans still wanting more "ILLmatic". I'm not sayin "BP3" is one of Jay's best album cause obviously it's not but that doesn't mean it's a horrible or bad album. A lot of times fans overreact with Jay and anything he does.

That is true too. Like Jay said if people want my old shit, buy my old albums. I still think it is fair for fans to think he declined which he has.

It was a solid album, but definitely not a classic. It did seem to get more hate than it deserved. I disliked the Empire State of Mind track.

I don't want his old shit. His new shit just ain't good. Make something thats good. Nas switched his style and content up and he's still dope.

"Niggas is still hatin ..Talking that “Nas done fell off with rhyming,
He'd rather floss with diamonds”
They pray please God, let him spit that uzi and the army lining
That shorty doowo rollin oowops in the park reclining"

Nas summed up the bullshit Jay has been stuck on for the past 5 years (besides his regular stunt rhymes) in a couple lines.

I don't need a 46 year old camel to tell me how to wear louey v boat shoes, that's what I read GQ magazine for. Like it has been said before... the music lacks soul. Jay compromised his art cause I can't believe truly in his heart he even believes that contemporary adult hip hop shit he spews. I don't hear PASSION for the art. I don't care to hear a new Reasonable Doubt, Vol. 2, BP, Black Album, but don't sit here and act like saying "Timberlands.. we off that" and "I have 10 #1 albums maybe now 11" over corny European techno beats is "contemporary adult". The Grammy's have always been corny. Rarely have they got any categories right, let alone Hip Hop with the exception of like Lauryn Hill, Outkast, and maybe Kanye here and there. But for Christ Sake, Carter III beat American Gangster, Paper Trails, Untitled, and The Cool. Stop it slime. The Grammy's have no bearing on my opinion.

To ME, Jay has been playing mind tricks on his avid listeners since like Vol. 2 or 3 lol... he made you believe all the shit that he said.
