Im listenin to good kid right now.. its a good concept album, and a very well put together one at that and to call it trash is either blatant disrespect or a cry for attention... and if he's familiar with anything from kendrick he'd know that kendrick never called himself the saviour of hiphop or the west or any of that...shyne is the only one who bought into all that... he's is living in a time-warp and thinks he knows what west coast music is supposta sound like... he's a overrated 2000 eastcoast rapper speakin on an over-hyped 2012 westcoast rapper...
its funny cuz cats always clown the west for our "carnival beats" (i remember someone sayin a while back) but get upset when a west coast rapper tries to break out that box and challenge that stigma. Its a stereotype. One that media portrays, too. Even when the west wasn't doing numbers, whenever you'd see a commercial trying to sell a product to young heads they would play a knock-off of a west coast gangsta beat (like theyre doing with dubstep now)...
In fact, that's one of the reasons I didn't listen to kendrick immediately... figured he wuz just another compton nigga braggin over westcoast beats... ironically, i think what shyne was expecting is what nipsey woulda brought to the table if dre hadnt passed on him... /rant
Nipsey changed his whole style up. Bullets Aitn Got No Names Nipsey and Tha Marathon Nipsey are two totally different artists. If he would have got signed to Aftermath during his previous stage, I could see that and I think you are mentioning him circa that time. I've been listening to Kendrick since 2006. Shyne sounds ignorant. I don't care if his music is wack or if it his opinion. Would he say this if Kendrick did not have a buzz?
