When I said, "their" I was talking about Nollywood as a whole. Because to be honest, I've never seen a Nollywood movie. But there have been some posters in here who said the enjoy them. I even mentioned the idea of them EXPANDING beyond their countries boarders....

Come on man....

Be all the way real. You have a problem with "African Americans" dont you?

And you never answered my question. How long have you been in America? And when your people did come, what made then leave?

Lol My man, then what was the purpose of tying it to the struggles of the less than savory AMERICAN depiction of blacks/plight of black actors

That was the first thing you mentioned

So your impetus for the thread and therefore the impetus to inva---sorry, collaborate w/ Nollywood was: struggling black actors/struggling black American film? Yes or no. Lol

Poor wording. But like I said, what I'm saying wont make sense to you because you already have shown you have that "us vs them" mentality when it comes to AA, and i wasn't even trying to approach it like that.

And I never used the word STRUGGLING. You did. Many of these black actors have skills, money and connections to resources from Hollywood. Not to say they NEED it, but coming with ideas and something to put on the table is much better than coming with and open hand.

But then again, THEY (yall) don't need us "AA" tho....

Black Excellence

Cmon son...lol

Put it this way

I've never seen a 'how to give resources back to Africa' thread. U know, like, without actually MOVING there.

I have, however, seen

These cops wildin...lets go to Africa

Cost of living crazy...lets go to Africa

If Trump win...lets go to Africa

All we gettin is slave movies. ..lets go to Nollywood

But, hey, im just a grouchy nigga

Lol....ight you trollin.

Convenient response. You have nothing to say bc thats all facts

I'll respond to that when you answer this...

Yes those shits are funny as fuck but the acting in some of the movies are over dramatic, the production values are trash and the blatant religious proselytizing is a bit much.

African Americans hooking up with nollywood would really change things on both sides for the better

see what i mean... Better for who?

may be... JUST MAYBE, that's how they like they're movies???

i look at at movies from India, U.K, China, France, even the Islands like Trinni, Haiti, N Jamaica. and they all have their own styles...

because ppl from that culture, have their own way of being entertained.

Like i said man, u blk adolf hitlers need to stay over here.

Better for everybody because it would be a collaboration. And would give Access to bigger markets for African actors

what Access to a bigger market would collaborations with African Americans, really lead to? Nollywood is # 3 in the world. Black Hollywood in America is number ???

If Nollywood actors want access to bigger markets, they gotta holla at Holly Wood, aka wht folks.

Yet i do agree that, black directors and producers can help the African film industry. screen writers n actors tho? idk, every culture really has their own story and styles.

nollywood is big but only because the population in nigeria and the numbers of nigerians around the world is big greater access to a wider markets means nollywood stars and directors could break internationally which means more money and more investment.

how many nollywood movies can you watch on netflix??? how many korean movies can you watch on netflix???? do you understand what i am getting at[

i do, and it's white folks, white folks, white folks...

we're talking about blks in america, and markets in Africa.

what does blk americans have to do with NetFlix, in terms of CEO decisions?

and if Nollywood want to expand here in the states they'll holla at ppl in Holly Wood aka White folks...

The biggest recent intentional black star Idris Elba, had his big break from The Wire which was made by David Simon. White folk...;

again Blks need to start our own shit, and SUPPORT. recently DeShuna Spencer, started this thing call

kweliTV. look it up and see what's it about, it's like a Netflix oriented around Blk media, hopefully WE ALL SUPPORT so that it becomes big like NEtFlix, and get NollyWood movies on there.

You think it's white folks, white folk,s white folks watching all those korean movies on netflix???? i doubt it and who cares anyway the purpose is to get people to watch your production so that you can get paid.

for the bold black people also pay their netflix subscriptions

You got it bruh lol. I ain't an actor SSN my pastor ain't long enough to make these types of moves anyway. Just thought it would be a good talking point. But I most definitely wasn't tryna inspire leeches.

I what happened in this thread, if we merge our creativity together we can create some dynamic movies and take over the market. Better we work together than be divided.

LOL bruh. Niggas though

Thread premise was positive but I've just been reading a lotta negativity and pessimism

@Judge_Judah regarding your questions I know the S. African movie industry is probably the best in the African continent as regards technical ability

The Nigerian industry needs investment and a bit of intellect however. It's mostly for profit and as the OP stated some of them movies are made in the space of a week hence the shabby nature of them..

I also stated this regarding African fashion. Someone like KanYe West cries and begs for European acceptance and gets shitted on when the African continent is still untapped in that industry with rich vibrance..

I agree on the Kanye point. Rosario Dawson hooked up with a partner to develop an African-inspired clothing line.

You know how it is any time talk of black/african unity gets talked about you will have these agent type dudes here to destroy the positive energy. So brothas in the US and brothas in Africa link up with Nollywood were is the problem.

nope , my original point remains intact. Can Blk Americans in entertainment help Nollywood, yea theyres always room to add improvement and new game to the arsenal. But do Nollywood need Blk Americans help, nope. Cause Nollywood is doing the damn thang.

you on the other hand switch the convo from what it initially was, into some insecure nigga shit. and why u aint answer my question?

what youre doing bout whts ,and asians strong arming Africa for resources ?

@rip.dilla was beast of no nation good? I saw some Ghana cats on Twitter not happy about the movie so I didn't check it out yet

It was decent. Started promisingly but kinda tapered off towards the final third. ..

Like I stated earlier in this thread, main character has an Igbo name but was speaking the Asanti language with the rest of the cast. Didn't add up..

Overall it covers the brutality of conflict in the rain forests of Africa and the deployment of kids to fight wars

As a Nigerian the movies are terrible. The production is terrible and everyone over acts. My family eats these movies up but I can't watch that stuff.

United we stand....divided we fall....why not link up? If done right both parties can become successful

But that's the thing. Nollywood is already successful in Nigeria. So it would have to be a mutually beneficial plan if the Nigerian production companies would even interested.

We know Nollywood has a successful brand. Most brands though can be even more sucessful by branching out and expanding their reach. That's where Black Hollywood comes in......imagine Kevin Hart or Chris Rock writing scripts for Nollywood comedies or even Magic Johnson bringing Nollywood to his tv network.

It can work the only thing that limits it would be negativity

There's always opportunities for native Africans and Black Americans to collaborate in the arts but naysayers always have other ideas
