Yall all in an uproar about them balling claiming there spending the church's money but not one of you asked what were they day job? not saying they're not crooked but.some pastors have lucrative day jobs

I'm pretty sure the topic is loaded with the assumption that the pastors are getting rich off the church. Why would anyone have a problem with pastors that are independently wealthy?

i have heard that there is a church in LA where the biggest donors get to sit closest to the front, so people constantly try to donate more than the other patrons so they can be 'closer to god'.

Lol, that one preacher with the handlebar mustache and the Dodgers fitted look like he straight up from the streets, like he was cripping with Tookie in the old days.

But at least he seemed to be out in the streets talking to the people who need it most.

Alot of these preachers with large congregations are hella entertaining, hella charismatic, so if people want to give that bread up for the product they're supplying so be it.

Churches fail the community because they might have that huge pool of resources, but too many of em aren't using it to invest in the community, uplift the community, or even help out/uplift the people in the pews.

From a strictly economic viewpoint, having a preacher ball out isn't the most efficient use of those pooled resources. Fail!

Some churches invest in the community.

But these are white churches that do it, black churches never do it for some reason.

White churches invest in the community.

Black people don't ask that shit, where does the money go. "Don't ask that shit nigga, it goes to god. Or to the light bills for the church."

My mother and aunt go to a church just like that. They gave the church so much money, they get to sit right behind the pulpit. They both paid TD Jakes 500 dollars to attend a dinner with him. SMH

Fuck nah! I remember I went to church on Father's Day (for like the 1st time in 2 months) w/ my brother & sis-in-law. We live in the same city but not where our fam is from so it wasn't our home/family church.

Anyway tithe/offering time comes around & this bitch at the podium talmbout a "special love offering" for their "spiritual father". I walked right past that bitch and put $2 in the regular collection plate. After church I'm pulling outta the parking lot & this nigga hop in a 2-door Porsche w/ his wife. He ain't miss that extra dollar I had in my wallet.

I've yet to meet a preacher that didn't have a 9 to 5 job. The ones I know personally are all average working joes like any one else. I only hear stories of these flamboyant, lap of luxury preachers out here. I'm gonna have ask one of the guys I know, how come he ain't balling like that.

Yeah all preachers aren't like that. The only reason it seems like a lot are like that is because the biggest most well known churches have those kind of preachers. So those are the one you see and hear about the most.

Fuck those shysters.

My dad has been a preacher for about 16 years. Never once took an offering from his congregation.....even as he watched the Elder in the church he was ordained at get tossed in Fed jail for embezzlement. He owns his own barber shop, built into the house I grew up in, as well as works at a local VA hospital as the head of housekeeping, working 3-11:30 shfits, five days a week. He even took a family into HIS home two years ago just cause they were out on their ass. Would you ever see one of these Bible hustlers do some shit like that?

It's people like this that make me content I'm Agnostic.

The bible has alot to say about people who are "rich"...

Mark 10:25

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, then for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God

"

Somebody lying..

Jesus’ message is clear—it is impossible for anyone to be saved on his own merits. Since wealth was seen as proof of God’s approval, it was commonly taught by the rabbis that rich people were blessed by God and were, therefore, the most likely candidates for heaven. Jesus destroyed that notion, and along with it, the idea that anyone can earn eternal life.

SO THAT VERSE U POSTED HAS ZERO TO DO WITH THIS THREAD

Yall wanna talk bout tithing, tithing aint scriptural, voluntary giving is.

It is scriptural. Jesus himself said that 10% should be given. He also said it wasn't as important as the leaders of that day made it out to be. Some things don't change I guess.
