Ummmm....question. Can you define "fixing" the culture? Those legends laid out the blueprint..

Then the newer generation comes in the culture that was already laid out for them to carry tradition but you have some that doesn't follow it let's say making a new "renovations" to the rules (and that's a 50/50 chance that could either make it fresh or fuck it up) and the legends ca be like " alright, that's what's up" or WTF and SMH...

You see it as "complaining" but the legend is/has already gave out the solution to "fix it". BE ORIGINAL and yourself.

I dont really see it as complaining. I'm old enough to have respect for the rappers I grew up on. Its the younger fans who dont really care what somebody like Ice T has to say. Thats one of the biggest problems we have in Hip Hop. Somebody like Ice T coming out and dissing Soulja Boy or calling attention to Ross' personality disorder should be given a lot more respect than a couple threads on a forum and some tweets.

Part of the problem is some of these older rappers didnt do anything to keep themselves actively involved in the culture that they gave birth to. Then they wanna chime in and complain about the kid they stopped supporting. Why doesnt Ice T have a legit crew of rappers making the kind of music he wants to hear and carrying on the tradition of Hip Hop as he sees it? Same question for Melle Mel and KRS and Professor Griff.

But yeah like I was saying, rap should have a council that approves of beefs and maybe a title belt. Something not attached to any label, radio station, or magazine. That way when Wayne rocks jeggings they could hit him with a yellow card or a fine.

I'm pretty sure Ice T have supported all the West Coast talents that came after him that carried on the same tradition for years...you name it: Snoop and Dogg Pound, The Game, Nipsey Hussle etc...those are a result of Ice T's influence..

KRS had supported numerous artists as well that carried the tradition well after him: Common, Buckshot, Nas, Jada, DMX etc..as well.

Melle Mel with Grandmaster Caz of course, basically fathered the art of MCing, whether niggas like it or not..only young niggas that won't swallow their pride with disagree with it. But that council idea doesn't sound bad at all.
