Half of the jobs you listed are government jobs. those are the least secure because eventually governments around the country are going to come face to face with fiscal reality.

I would advise young people to get some "out of country" backup plans. In days past, young people often had to move to find opportunity. Often it was from somewhere else to the US. The time has come for US youth to start moving abroad to find their way, perhaps.

Where???????? Europe is in the dumps, China only hiring white men, Japan still cleaning up, Africa is africa (LOL! had to say that). The only place really popping is south America and maybe Canada. But I aint trying to be a ice road trucker or digging in sand for oil. I can do that here!!!!

They will always be needed, but you are correct in that they also face cuts and consolidation.

Overseas is a very good idea for a lot of educated young americans, you have to act fast though, theres a lot embracing that curve already. Get your multi language skillls up as well, you can get bread.

Whats the difference in computer science and computer engineering?
Computer science is into architecture, languages, algorithms, and software; while computer engineering deals more with the physical bases for computing, the engineering behind it, and the hardware.

I'm majoring in Computer & Electrical Engineering and only minoring in Computer Science, so I'd say Computer Engineering is better.
