Don't go into the help desk phone support cause it'll only get out sourced later. May want look into network admin or maybe in software/ hardware support.

All ways need doctors, police, firefighters, janitors, maintenance, entertainers, military and servers. Also need folks to support them, like nurses, assistants, suppliers and such.

A tech school, a 4 year degree, or certifications?

People are always going to get sick! REmember that! But you have to get in a field that technology will not catch up and take over.

Being a doctor takes time and being a nurse is cool but the beginning part is hard. My sister can go to any place and get a job being a nurse but you have to constantly keep going to school and improving. Men nurse get paid because they need someone that can lift people.

So you work in a IT division of a company that has been around for 100 years?

Half of the jobs you listed are government jobs. those are the least secure because eventually governments around the country are going to come face to face with fiscal reality.

I would advise young people to get some "out of country" backup plans. In days past, young people often had to move to find opportunity. Often it was from somewhere else to the US. The time has come for US youth to start moving abroad to find their way, perhaps.

Really the unemployment lines and forclosures i guess. Other than that cats doing it the same. HEre in the ATL cats been living over their heads for years. What is a recession going to change? Me and the family dont go out to eat and I dont go back to Louisiana as much but that is more because of my kids and making arrangements.
