Nothing's gonna stop the leak until they finish drilling the relief wells....in August. And even then we should have our fingers crossed.

The damage is done. But America loves quick fixes and hates to lose, so of course.....

Denial - "Who cares about that spill, what time is the game on?"

Anger - "WHY ISN'T IT FIXED YET?!?!"

Bargaining - "I've invented a way to plug the leak using Astroglide and Dutchmaster guts."

Depression - "The leak is never gonna be plugged, this is Obama's fault, we're fucked."

Acceptance - ????

I dont understand why Obama isnt doing anything. If I were Obama I would have droped a Nuclear bomb at all the places of the training camps of the terrorists. I would have killed all the terrorists publicly so that next time none other would even think about becoming terrrorist.

it doesn't matter, its all about how its perceived. Had he showed more leadership and done a better job of damage control, people wouldn't be as upset. Everyone knows he can't go down there and fix it himself, but he's supposed to do a better job giving the impression he's got a handle on the situation

And the people of Louisiana believe

Overall only 32% of Louisianans approve of how Obama has handled the spill to 62% who disapprove. 34% of those polled say they approved of how Bush dealt with Katrina to 58% who disapproved

alot white only need an excuse to hate and blame him for "something".....FACT

Yeah, this seems to be a huge trait amongst many white people with Obama.....their demanding quick answers to questions that take time. Sarah Palin can't close this leak, neither can Sean Hannity. These white people need to settle down and understand real life is not like a TV show. It's really disgusting how so many whites are acting real petty right now. It's pathetic.

Bush was trashed because he was a legitimate MORON. The media made fun of him because he deserved to be. Obama is getting treated harshly by the media now though.....I guess cuz he seems to cool about the issue. I guess people want him to be a raving lunatic and act pissed off?? What's that going to do?? He's visiting people and talking to scientists.....everyone is stumped till August.

Once again....what is Obama supposed to do?? Threaten to waterboard the oil?? Send it to jail?? BP has more technology involving oil spills than the govt, that's not Obama's fault. Obama can only do so much for this oil spill, there are TONS of people at the Gulf but they can't do anything! The oil sends out so much oil picking up tar balls is next to impossible, cuz it's always coming back. Oil tankers are already collecting oil, along with some government ships. There's little that can be done realistically, except for which Obama has proposed, which is for BP to set up an escrow fund. That fund should be worth at least 30 billion in my opinion to cover the costs of the millions of people who are going broke now.

Obama is trying his best on this issue, and I'm never afraid to criticize him.

Obama has been going to the Gulf, meeting with officials and meeting with different scientists. He's evaluating what can be done, what else can he do? I understand the anger of people in Lousiana but godamn.....they need to blame BP, their the ones who fucked up!

executives, including Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, CEO Tony Hayward and BP U.S. boss Lamar McKay, were seen walking into the West Wing of the White House just before 10 a.m. ET for talks with Obama that were scheduled to last 20 minutes.

if a 20 minute damage control session during one of the largest ecological disasters in US history won't help, i don't know what will

This could all be government propaganda , but the reports are coming out that there was a ton of overlooking regulations and negligent activity that took place on the oil rig that killed 11 people. They say this was happening during the Bush administration, and we all know Bush was for big oil. Sounds like this was inevitable......... but what else is new!......

Obama = hip hop

their were some old white men on tv last night debating on obamas way of thinking compared to bill clintons way of thinking..

they basically said.. clinton will be in a wet suit in the gulf tryna to patch it up.. calling up the chairman of BP 24/7, etc.

in reality, blame BP for not having a solution or plan for these emergencies.. you gotta have a plan for the plan, in case the plan fails, etc. etc. cuz of BP.. the whole oil industry will suffer

Obama just needs to take the criticism.. and continue trying to fix this mess we are in.. we are not backing out of afghanistan any time soon.. we will be out there for decades to come.. maybe tackle the little things he promised so when elections come- you cant say he was totally useless..

if bush did 2 terms.. im down with obama to do the same..

Regulation, man.....there's actually oil rigs in our waters that Federal inspectors aren't even allowed to walk on because they're not U.S flagged. Plus other countries require things like remote shutoff switches and relief wells to already be installed before the rig begins operation. That would have helped IMMENSELY and could've stopped this disaster in April. But we can't force the oil companies to use such safeguards in our waters because THAT'S COMMUNISM AND HOW DARE OBAMA DO THAT, HE'S JUST LIKE CHAVEZ!!!

WASHINGTON — The White House and BP tentatively agreed on Wednesday that the oil giant would create a $20 billion fund to pay claims for the worst oil spill in American history. The fund will be independently run by Kenneth Feinberg, the mediator who oversaw the 9/11 victims compensation fund, according to two people familiar with the deliberations.

If the new range of flow estimates proves correct, and if BP is ultimately found guilty of gross negligence in actions it took that led to the Deepwater Horizon disaster, that would mean the company could be assessed fines of up to $258 million a day. Those fines could come on top of payments for cleanup costs and economic damage to Gulf Coast businesses.

Fearful that the spill could ultimately cost BP tens of billions of dollars, investors have driven the company’s market valuation down by 48 percent since the spill began, erasing $91 billion of shareholder value. BP shares rose more than 2 percent during regular trading on Tuesday, but then gave up all that gain and more in after-hours trading.

Mr. Obama has said all along that BP will pay for everything. People close to BP said that as asset-rich as the global oil giant is, its holdings are not so liquid that it can instantly set aside as many billions of dollars as the White House and leaders in Congress are seeking. Also being worked out are the terms by which BP would have to replenish the fund as it is drawn down.

BP officials are adamant that the company should not be liable for the lost wages of oil workers laid off because of the six-month moratorium that the Obama administration imposed on deepwater offshore drilling after the Deepwater Horizon explosion and fire. But Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and other administration officials repeatedly have cited idled oil workers as among those who could press claims.
