No doubt. But I think there was some other shit too. Im gonna make it real simple, first dude who really puts it out there, dead, next dude, beat up badly. Then its rarely talked about again by most media people. People he disses, become cool with him, whole industry co signs. Just saying. That shit could have happened in the 90's.

My family is all B-boys and musicians, I just laugh at people who pretend like they know what woulda-shoulda-coulda happened in the 90's as if people like Raekwon, Bun B., JayZ, Nas, Kool G Rap and E40 were not making records in the 90's and would have treated Rozay differently than they do in 2011 when they collab and co-sign him.

I.C. logic makes zero sense.

Whats that gotta do with Ross trynna start beef for no reason tho? No way he felt Ross the underground nobody was a threat musically.

I dont know the reason, forgot what it was, but yeah that wasnt a good look but Im sure you think Gibbs is tight for doing that shit huh, just speaking his mind.

And I dont think Ross can take Tip lyrically but musically Ross can craft a song man.

none bro, if this were to actually happen to people around them, they would be like nah, dude is cool though, he is down with all my dudes still, so it aint nothing. But here, they just let those facts slip by them.

dude would have fit in as a NY rapper
but down south niggas might not have been buying the bullshit.
NY niggas was great story tellers about how many bricks they move so dude would have fit in with and been on Jay/Nas/BIG level

Biggie was actually selling crack & doing what he had to do to get out of the hood. Even when he was signed to Puff he was still "broke" & selling crack cocaine. But Biggie & Ross arent the same, here u have a dude who claims to be the biggest drug dealer in miami but was actually a CO & denied it until the photos came out. Whereas Biggie actually did his dirt when he was on the come up. Also Biggie had sheer talent he paved the way for lyricism in the game & created a lyrical blueprint that many still try to follow. There was NO ONE like Big when he came out. All Ross has going for him is great production to cover the fact that hes a weak lyricist compared to his peers. Without a reputation thats believable to sell to the masses or any other talent than production if this were the 90s Ross wouldve fallen off. Theres no question about it.

Ok see but thats not what T/S is asking, this is all opinion. U don't think for a minute when they do his "Behind The Music" there isnt gonna be what at least ONE nigga who knows the truth ? Trick Daddy & Ted Lucas KNEW about Ross & the CO shit. If this were the 90s & them niggas made the claim u dont think the audience/general public wouldn't be looking to see where that may have come from ? Sure u can get someone to co-sign him but what about wen the pics surface & U dont think there wouldnt be one angry or envious family member that would take it upon themselves to show the public those photos ? and then what would he have done then ? In the 90s reputation & how real u were was way more crucial to a rapper. There were a million niggas spittin but not too many niggas with real life tales that could make movies.

He woulda sold records but as soon as that CO shit came out it wouldve made the front page of The Source & the whole game woulda came at Ross.... lets not even act like a nigga like Pac, Ghost, Rae, Ice T, LL & others wouldn't have sent blows at the nigga.

who the hell is Pac???? o u mean wiggle toes ????

while rick ross was c.o. ing ice- t was killing niggaz on the streets with his dance moves

...`pac is my favorite artist period n i fuckz with law n order n fantasize about coco, but u niggaz acting like 95% of these rappers are as real as their raps.... lupe n nelly were involved in street shyt howeva u would have neva known.... biggie was neva eating sardines n was broke as he said he was in juicy.... i could go on....

my case is rappers ain't marks but they ain't no hardcore street niggaz 95"% of them r just niggaz who hang...

LL ????

Just ignore them and pay attention to your brother who has been authenticated.

The same rappers that hop on songs with Rozay in 2011 are the same rappers that the whites call "real ni99ers"...Jadakiss, Fat Joe, Styles, Trae, Yo Gotti, Jay Rock, Slim Thug, Roccett etc. etc...

These G-Unit people want you to believe that Ghostface & DMX would diss Rozay in the 90's but for some odd reason won't diss him in 2011 LOL.

Real-Recognize-Real which is why Rozay is just as popular in 2011 as he was in 2009.....when you have a majority Black fanbase you don't have to rely on your genocide-ranking, we appreciate you based on your musical contributions and respect you for having a legitimate job rather than peddling poison to your own people.

...just watch the people you respect and pay attention to their opinion.

First of all, somebody already came in here and said they dont care about rhyme schemes and all that shit so thats a perfect example. Secondly he doesnt have multiple rhyme schemes. And last, you think he can rhyme with the best? Hell nah. He's living off his beats and hooks, dont deny it.

Thats not true...

If there was room in Hip Hop for Ice Cube, Dre, Pac, Snoop (who weren't as lyrical as their NYC counterparts) then there was room for Ross...

Im from the East Coast and I cant even cosign that foolishness, Mafia Music II showed Ross could spit with the best of them...

People who know the history of HipHop will tell you that in the 90s the majority of Southern HipHop artists were not getting national attention, Ross would have been ahead of his time and been the southern version of Raekwon.

Raekwon compares himself to Rick Ross.

As far as the C.O. Situation is concerned it wouldn't matter because people from the streets and within the industry know the difference between a cop and a C.O., and people that don't know the difference don't count anyway.

I agree...the 90s was mafioso rap. No way a lyrical, charismatic rapper from Miami wouldn't have gotten love. That Scarface-Miami Vice coke rap steeze Ross was on would've been more well received during that period. Think "Only Built for Cuban Linx: South Beach version"

Two....Im sick of niggas talking about the C.O. shit. The exposures that happened this decade wouldn't have ever came out in the 90s. Technology was a lil behind.

Proof (Tupac was allowed to keep being Thug Life despite going to Arts School with Rich white kids, Jay was allowed to write coke raps despite being a Hawaaian Sophie, Biggie was allowed to be a drug kingpin despite being an honor roll student and being called out by his homies, Nas was able to be Nas Escobar despite never leaving his house steps, I wont even speak on Dr. Dre)

I never said their was no room for Ross. Care to explain how MM 2 puts Ross in the elite category?

i think he woulda been fine

the co shit wouldn't have happened cuz the internet wasn't as prevalent then

and he makes some of the best mafioso music ever

he'd be a legend right now in the same way raekwon is a legend

Dude nailed it in the 1st post. I don't know if he would be a legend now, but the 90s loved fat rappers and he would have been on his A game more often than he is now...fuck it dude would have been close as hell to legendary status. After hearing him go. Toe to toe with G Rap and Raekwon id love to see him do a 90s revival type mixtape, same type of beats maybe a few boom bap beats just for kicks and killin it on the hooks. Ross' music gets better every album/tape he drops imo.

musically the nigga would have fit right in with all the other nigga faking like they were hustlers

but if he had lied about the CO thing in the 90's he would have been done.
