I heard a song with Nicki on it yesterday and realize I didnt think about this at all. My take is it was ineffective except for exposing Remy.

You been low-key virtually sucking her plastic clitoris for a while stop it

I'm not thinking about nas when I listen to Jay either or vice versa doesn't mean their disses where ineffective

So Nikki had Nas shut down the Shether?

Can't perform it publicly and removed from Soundcloud?

If this is true then Nicki looks that much worse in this beef. Some will see it as a boss move, but it's a bitch move imo. How you gonna pop shit then go mute when you get pressed? Nas can hold that L too if he had anything to do w/ getting it shut down.

Fake News. Still on Spotify, still available for sale on iTunes. Check for yourself and you'll see.

If it was taken off SoundCloud then I would assume it was by Remy and it was because she wasn't getting paid.

I saw somebody say this earlier today. How would Nicki make Nas do anything? That's a legal/business decision. Nicki ain't got no say so over a business move Nas makes.

Are we seriously discussing this ridiculous rumor?

There is no way to stop someone from performing a freestyle over an instrumental. In case you culture vultures didn't know, it happens at Radio stations across the country everyday. At least it used to.

And even if it was, this isn't Empire and Nicki Minaj isn't Cookie. Common sense would tell you neither Nas nor Ron Brownz would get involved in this way.

Nas had NOTHING to do with Remy Ma's diss track being yanked from the airwaves, and we're told the rapper's pointing the finger at one giant culprit -- Universal Music Publishing.

Sources connected to the rapper tell TMZ ... Nas has no beef with Remy using his beat to diss Nicki Minaj in "shETHER" ... and it was Universal -- which owns the song -- that made a stink after Remy jacked the beat, slapped it on her track and sold it without its permission.

Remy's label may have dropped the ball by not getting the all clear. The track's since been taken off Sound Cloud and radio. Sources tell us Remy's been told she can't even perform the track.

We're told Universal sprung into action after "shETHER" hit No. 2 on iTunes ... though we checked and you can still download the track, but that could quickly change.

Nas sources are adamant the rapper would NEVER step into a blistering showdown. In fact ... Nas is a fan of battle raps and appreciates the culture. Nas, of course, had one of the most epic beefs with Jay Z.

As for Remy ... sources say "shETHER" might not see light of day again cause she didn't play on Universal's terms.

the moment the instrumental was used to generate profit, it no longer falls under free use. which is what radio freestyles use to avoid scrutiny. Once it generated a profit far more control is able to be exerted by the owner of the publishing (apparently UMG), which then has to facilitate royalties to everyone credited in the songs creation etcetc

If anything, they would've made her take it down from iTunes and Spotity, but its still there.

But that shit reminds me when The Undertaker made Meek Mill take his diss off of Soundcloud. The deadman don't F around

Exactly. It's the reason go go can do what they do. Have you niggas never been to a concert and the artist performs somebody else's song? You can't copyright/trademark a live performance.

technically...

“Anyone who plays copyrighted music in a public establishment is required to obtain advanced permission from the copyright owner, or their representative.” A PRO, sometimes referred to as Performing Rights Society (PRS), is a licensing agent for songwriters and their music publishing companies, and it coordinates royalties for the appropriate parties.

However, the responsibility for procuring this license usually falls on the venue or organization hosting the band. Owners of performance venues purchase license agreements from one or all of the big PROs. In addition to SESAC, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) also coordinate performance licensing for such venues.

So, if you perform cover songs at weddings or nightclubs, the venue would need to have the appropriate licensing agreement or face legal exposure. (The same obviously goes for venues hosting tribute bands—bands that cover many songs by the same bands.)

the music business is a tricky one.
