Rap isn't just about having great lyrics. It's the very distinctive way in which you deliver those lyrics. Them being exceptional lyrist isnt the defining factor, it's just an advantage.

A person that can't rap doesn't grasp the basic song structure of a rap song and so can't make good rap music.

Eazy E in his first attempt in SOC is what people that can't rap look like and stay like. Silk The Shocker is arguably another. Look at the mistakes rappers make in studio footage and have to do retakes for. Folks that can't recognize or correct that stuff are people that can't rap.

Arguably? More like, prototype. I thought that nigga broke barriers as the first stuttering MC until I found out it wasn't nothin wrong with him. If explosive dierrhea was set to a hip hop track. You could call it a silkk the shocker comeback record and nobody would know the difference.

I agree but apparently people are fans of his so I was lenient.

But check this out...

How hard would it be to hear an accapella in a foreign language and know if it's a rap song? With just an accapella and a metronome playing, I bet niggas would know what type of song they were listening too. So it's more than just having tight rhymes.

That 'but he makes good music' is one of hip hops biggest cop outs. It's up there with mixtapes. Most times the music these wack niggas are makin' isn't good. Quite the opposite.

That goes along with

"He making money though, stop hating"

"The bitches love it though"

etc

And he can flow, and he be saying some shit. Way better than these rappity rap niggas that talk about how they can punch through mountains with the strength of Hulk.

Whos even an example of an artist that can't rap, but makes good rap music?

I wouldnt say good myself but y'all think it it is....

Future

Stop it. Future can definitely rap, and definitely makes good music.

He has charisma, and he makes catchy melodic music.

Mumbling is Charisma now?????

Waka had charisma....OJ had Charisma

Someone give me a Future verse where he just snaps

As far as time, effort and quality in the final product is concerned, lotta these niggas make what would be reality TV. Or 'trash' TV. I'm no a fan but I won't judge anyone for watchin' their Love and Hip Hops or that other one with Peter Gunz. (Apologies if it's the same show). Just don't tell me it's better than GoT and we're cool man I'll even watch with you

His charisma plays a huge part in his success. He's wack lyrically but he has other qualities that appeal to people.

SMH niggas forget that rap started out as party music and shit to make you move, not this spoken word shit y'all fell in love with.

Future's a flow rapper who has a unique delivery/cadence. His style is on some soul shit, just different vibrations. Nigga legit be spitting poems and shit over dope instrumentals lol - Honest, Turn on the Lights, March Madness etc.

Check out the below verse where he's speaking on street life and paints a real life picture on the mentality of someone in that position:

Future - Trap Niggas

Weighed 1008 grams on the square

I got a lower case T across my chest

Your crack house doin' numbers then you blessed

You move your momma to a crib from the 'jects

It's so much alcohol and kush on my breath

We prayin' five times a day to catch a plug

A few bean pies stashed in the trunk

Shoot dice all day and sell dust

You loaded up, they talkin' shit, you gone bust

Told yourself a million times, you don't give a fuck

Sold over a million dimes, hangin' in the cut

Sold over a million dimes, I don't give a fuck

What?

Some folks are just easily impressed by simplicity and mediocre rapping so long as the beat is dope and hook is catchy.

Music is about the sound, and has always been about the sound.

ANYONE can rappity rap. That shit is not hard at all. Niggas was Canibus rapping with the hyperboles and similes and shit in middle school. What's hard is making a song that will force the crowd to take on the tone of the song. Transferring your mood to the listener, while saying some real shit at the same time.

Whenever music anything gets away from the creators, it loses its essence. Y'all outsiders trying to make rap some nerdy, how many words can I fit in sentence bullshit, FOH!

Nas is a musical descendant of Langston Hughes, not a nigga rambling about the Avengers and moving at light speed, with struggle flow.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't let this go. This nigga just referenced two of the greatest poets to ever live in a negative light. I wish you were in front of me so I could knock nickles, dimes and quarters outta you.

Smh. I hate you new niggas.
