Reason Debate: "I don't care if you can rap or not, as long as you can make good music"

I need to be impressed when I hear music I need to be inspired I can't listen to a dummy on the mic, the closest I've come to such a feat was the last French montana mixtape

If you are a rapper you should be able to rap... When I heard Designer doing his Hakunamatada finger snapping shit on the XXL "freestyle" I was not impressed, I dont care how catchy it is.

Yea feel and flow is important, but it is diminished when its the only thing you bring to the record. I like music, generally speaking, that agrees with my sensibilities, these new niggas just be mumbling dumb shit

Wats good music to me, might not be good music to you....I'm all about being creative lyrically, but that doesnt mean that I like every Jay-Z and say Gza song and hate every Fetti Wap and Waka Flaka song....Sometimes a wack rapper can make a final product that I like....Like dude said tho, that good music shyt falls in line with...It doesnt bang in the club, they getting money, can play it at the bbq stuff these cats be throwin around....

Some folks are just easily impressed by simplicity and mediocre rapping so long as the beat is dope and hook is catchy.

Music is about the sound, and has always been about the sound.

ANYONE can rappity rap. That shit is not hard at all. Niggas was Canibus rapping with the hyperboles and similes and shit in middle school. What's hard is making a song that will force the crowd to take on the tone of the song. Transferring your mood to the listener, while saying some real shit at the same time.

Whenever music anything gets away from the creators, it loses its essence. Y'all outsiders trying to make rap some nerdy, how many words can I fit in sentence bullshit, FOH!

Nas is a musical descendant of Langston Hughes, not a nigga rambling about the Avengers and moving at light speed, with struggle flow.

Future and those like him with limited thought process and rhyming ability cant rap like Canibus or whatever rappity ass rapper you can think off. But a rappity rapper can make a song that sounds like Future.

That cornball Hopsin did it fucking around had all the Future Stans tight.

Rap in of itself is own art form. From its inception/beginning rap has never held itself to the so called conventional standards of music.

It is why rap/hiphop had a fuck soul train and r&b attitude.

What you and other continue to push is to have rap conform and be critiqued and held to the same musical standards of pop, rock, and r&b, all because rappers are lacking in rapping talent.

When that in of itself goes against what rap and hiphop is all about.

IDK wtf you talking outsiders changing what rapping is about.

The change came within the culture when Kool Moe Dee gave birth to the Lyrical MC by destroying Busy Bee and his rambling party bullshit..

In 2016 you cats would crown Busy Bee The winner and clown Kool Moe Dee. Yall supporting rapping going backwards to Busy Bee type of MC'ing.

Btw one the so called "rappity rappers" is an actual descendant to Bernie Worrell of Parlment Funkadelic.

The niggas that voted "yes"...

One young money "stan" that just supports YM vehemently and says outlandish shit for Lol's...

One cat that's just funny because of his wayward comments and incoherent moments...

2 funny style, pretentious idiots that think they're smart, but myself and the rest of the forum knows that they're idiots. One of which I'm sure would engage in coitus, Quagmire-style, with Future if Future asked him to.

And one @Negro_Caesar, who prolly clicked "yes" by accident.

Go figure these are the muthafuckas that cosign most of this fuck shit rap has become.

We disagree fundamentally and the world also disagrees with you, which is why the lyrical spiritual niggas don't sell and aren't championed like the people that make good music and connect with the listener.

Rap is not any different at it essence than any other kind of respectable music. Like I said earlier, music will always be about feeling.

The biggest selling rapper alive is a spirtual mircale rapper and those who have the longest careers and sell the most albumd are those who are seen lyricist.

Championed by who? Certainly not those within the hiphop culture. Futue dies tomorrow he doesnt rank any list be it mc, rapper, artist and certainly not lyricist.

Bis gets offed tomorrow he still goes down as one the purest lyricist in hiphop, by those who truly respect and matter within the hiphop culture.

Lol at using Elvis as an example, as if we don't live in a white supremacist society, thus proving my point about outsiders trying to change shit up.

You haven't proved anything. You want to blame outsiders because it sounds good, but its factually and historically inaccurate.

In addition to Kool Moe Dee

The whole style of MCing changed further with Kane and Kool G Rap hit the scene they birth many of these rappers by using multiple flows, punches, compound sentences and multi syllable rhyme styles.

Kendrick Lamar,

J Cole,

Jay-Z

Outkast,

Nas,

BIG,

Pac

Big Pun

Jadakiss

Ludacris

Scarface

Ice Cube

off top all mcs who are lyricist whose albums gone Gold and/or Platinum multiple times.

You are the cats that changing shit up and redefining the rules by creating the whole "rappity ass rapper" bullshit for lyricist.

When all it is, is a weak defense mechanisim to justify and defend yourself for listening to garbage ass rappers.

the beauty of the internet is that you have choice now. if you don't like what the radio is playing, don't listen to it. if you don't like a rapper because he's not lyrical enough, then listen to one you think is lyrical. if you think something is too spiritual miracle lyrical, find someone you feel you connect more with.

the lack of different styles on the radio would have been a problem when i was growing up. it was still 56K til like the 7th/8th grade for me. but once cable modems became a norm, the importance of radio for satiating my musical palate became less important.

mtv don't play music videos as often anymore. thank God Youtube has like every music video ever. Pandora allows me to listen to bands that are similar to the ones im searching for AND can suggest stuff i've never heard before. there's xm/satellite radio with a channel for pretty much any style of music you want.

there's almost too much choice. anyway, just because your favorites aren't super popular doesn't mean there's anything wrong. trying to force everyone to like what you like sounds rather counter-productive. arguing with people about food they like to eat, should probably be one of your least concerns. say i like cheese pizza and lasagna, but you love cheeseburgers. if you can't stand cheese pizza and lasagna why would i be worried about trying to convince you to like it? that just means there's more cheese pizza and lasagna for me, and you don't gotta worry about me keeping you from all those cheeseburgers you enjoy.

insert party rap vs lyrical rap. for the food metaphor, and you can see why most problems like these can be solved.
