Biggie got Nas on flow allday, but i can name 10 things off da top dat Nas did and biggie could never do

That is not a rap category apart from lyrics that Nas is better at Biggie than. Biggie has better flow, presence, delivery, and is infinitely more charismatic on the mic. Nas is a better artist, but thats about it. How can you listen to a track like "Unbelievable" and "Long Kiss Goodnight" and act like BIG isn't fucking with Nas?

Nas sounds awkward as hell when he speeds up his flows. I know I'm not the only one that wasn't impressed by his flow on "Hero"

Yeah but so did biggie on notorious thugs, I like biggie, he's one of the greats, but he wasn't just shittin on nas when it comes to flows and delivery, if anything they was neck and neck.

nas got flow too. maybe not better than big's, but i think that's what made illmatic.

Btw, this is NOT a Nas vs. Biggie thread, I'm strictly discussing these two albums. Most of us can agree that:

1. R2D has better production

2. R2D has more replay value

3. R2D has more classic songs

Even if you think Nas is a better apper, Biggie is close enough where you can name R2D the better album because of the above qualities ^^^^

I been saying this shit since the mid 90s. RTD was NY hip hop in 94. That and Tical had shit on lock up here. I fucks with Illmatic but its not even close to RTD. BIG incorporated everything on that album. Street shit. Shit for the women. Shit to play at the club. The album has no weakness. Flawless.

agreed.

What makes Big's flow better anyway? Was it that he switched it up on "Notorious Thugs" to rap faster? Nas on average on Illmatic rapped at a faster pace than than Big on every song on RTD. The only song where Nas slowed his flow down was on "One Time 4 Your Mind". I mean come on, it didn't even sound like Nas was breathing when he rapped.

Presence ,delivery, and charisma are practically the same thing. Big was one of da illest when it comes to free verse type rhymes, same shit jay and weezy do. Nas is far more complete, big could never do shit like "who killed it" "fried chicked" "last words" etc .

I've agreed that Nas is a better artist. But I've said it and I'll say it again, there is not one category other than lyricism that you can say he is better than Biggie at.

How does Illmatic sound 'dated' though? how does Halftime sound more 'dated' than Gimme The Loot? or how does One Time 4 Your Mind sound more 'dated' than Ready To Die? etc.

As a whole Ready 2 Die has more replay value than "Illmatic". There's numerous tracks I can play from R2D at a social gathering with people MY AGE. Try to play some shit from Illmatic and wait for the stares.

naw

Ready To Die sounds just as dated as illmatic

however illmatics content and diversity >RtD

RTD is a album which is confused like a faggot, it has some dope songs and then it goes off track....puff had way too much input

To my man Ill Will, God bless your life

To my peoples throughout Queens, God bless your life
I trip we box up crazy bitches aimin guns in all my baby pictures
Beef with housin police, release scriptures that's maybe Hitler's
Yet I'm the mild, money gettin style, rollin foul
The versatile, honey stickin wild, golden child
Dwellin in the Rotten Apple, you get tackled
Or caught by the devil's lasso, shit is a hassle
There's no days, for broke days, we sell it, smoke pays
While all the old folks pray, to Jesus' soakin they sins in trays
of holy water, odds against Nas are slaughter
Thinkin a word best describin my life, to name my daughter
My strength, my son, the star, will be my resurrection
Born in correction all the wrong shit I did, he'll lead a right direction
How ya livin large, a broker charge, cards are mediocre
You flippin coke or playin spit spades in strip poker

Nas Was Far better with the multi syllable rhyme scheme
then biggie it's no contest for me

How can anyone listen to a song like "Long Kiss Good Night" or "Brookyn's Finest" and say Biggie doesn't have lyrics?
